We Are The Rovers (WATR) - formerly known as Rovers Trust - today issued a strongly worded statement, endorsed by several fan groups, including BRFCS; calling on all Rovers supporters to get behind the team in the vital run-in to the end of the season.
The call for unity came at a time when the aims and objectives of the club owners have been brought under the spotlight following a three successive transfer windows where recruitment has been underwhelming (whilst transfer receipts have been significant) and for the second February in a row, the first team coach has left the club calling out a lack of tangible backing.
WATR are calling out to supporters to pledge support to the team whilst asking the the current owners to dispose of the club, citing a lack of active interest in its fortunes.
“As supporters, we are committed to backing the team on the pitch more than ever before. Ultimately we want our club to be successful and will do all we can to make that happen. Unfortunately we do not believe our owners can say the same…
We are calling on all supporters to turn up to our remaining games, home and away, in numbers and give the players and our new head coach the support they deserve…
We want to show the footballing world what a special club Rovers is, and once again we implore the Rao family to do the right thing and seek to find us new owners who will provide the club with the resources, care, ambition and respect we deserve.”
