Rovermatt Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 A first half lesson in the abject state of our side. No skill, no talent and no balls. I'm not going to watch the second half. Pathetic.

tcj_jones Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 (edited) This is just so frustrating to watch Tugay just keeps getting drawn out to the ball on the wings and Birmingham have acres of space and on top of that he just keeps putting the defenders under pressure with poor short, backward passes. McEveley was very much at fault for that third goal, but every time it gets in the box we cannot seem to get it clear. Going forward we play some very decent football - Emerton has been brilliant, but with Tugay and Ferguson in midfield they are breaking and spreading the ball wide and we just cannot cope with it. vyeo Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 3-1 down at half time. whatever's happened to fatboy? is he on drugs? would like to see thommo on for tugay in the 2nd half. anderton's having him for lunch and that says alot... and please...stop playing the high balls! dickov and jansen must be at least a head shorter than upson and cunningham. come on rovers!
B.R.F.C Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Jay McEveley at fault for goals 2 and 3. Overall our defending has been crap, toal and utter crap Jay and Toogs off at Half Time please.
rover6 Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 (edited) Hughes has to make some changes at the break. Tommo for Tugay would be a good place to start. As for McEveley's error-strewn game - the regular reserve watchers have been warning us that he was not playing well even against reserve opposition. Edited November 21, 2004 by rover6
USABlue Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 This is horrible, I hate when we score early, we always seem to take our foot of the pedal when we do. We are in serious trouble, chance of turning this game are very very slim, our chances of going down are almost certain.
Alex Rover Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Sorry McEveley but everytime you've played at left back, we've conceded goals that have been your fault. He's not good enough I'm afraid.
tcj_jones Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 (edited) Watched the third goal again - just as much Tugay's fault as McEveley's. Dunn ran through midfield for about 20 minutes and wasn't even tracked by Tugay. Edited November 21, 2004 by tcj_jones
krislu Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Sorry McEveley but everytime you've played at left back, we've conceded goals that have been your fault. He's not good enough I'm afraid. Agree, he has got his chance and proven he aint good enough!
mode_m Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Im not too surprised that the rovers defence is crap again. I don't have any suggestions except to wait for January and pick up some defenders. For any team to be one up and then be 2 down by half time is horrible. I've seen more skill playing pick up at the school play ground. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NEVER PUT MATTEO, GRAY, OR TUGAY ON THE PITCH EVER AGAIN!
Blue and White Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 enough is enough. If we continue to play with this defence we will go down most certainly, this is nowhere near good enough for the premiership. Counting on some miracles in January by Hughes. and I don't see how we're going to get anything from this game in the 2nd half, but we have to.
tcj_jones Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 I just cannot believe that Tugay is still on the field. I don;t know whats happened to him since the Liverpool match, but almost everything from Birmingham stemmed from him.
Alex Rover Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 I just cannot believe that Tugay is still on the field. I don;t know whats happened to him since the Liverpool match, but almost everything from Birmingham stemmed from him. I think we're just waiting for Tommo to be match fit to replace him but even that's a gamble as he's rarely ever played there so will need some adjusting time. Things are bad indeed.
tcj_jones Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 (edited) 3-2 Reid finished off a good move. Thompson with the assist. We're playing with much more purpose now. Edited November 21, 2004 by tcj_jones
Ewood Dream Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Defence is a shambles but I'm going to stick by McEveley.... I mean who have we got to replace him? Gray? Gresko? ....*gulp* Matteo? All huge under-performers. 3-2 Let's get a point out of this!
tcj_jones Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 God is Thompson having a blinder!!!1 Two assists and the difference between the team of the first and second half. Dickov deserved the goal but Gallagher scored it. Brilliant.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Ahh what a game to watch! The thing about Rovers is that we are NEVER boring to watch! GET INTO 'EM!!!
mode_m Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Gally!!!!! what is happening here? I cannot believe what im seeing...
tcj_jones Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 (edited) Beautiful volley from Thompson - ANOTHER attacking contribustion. If this guy isn't playing next week... EDIT: If somebody had have been following in Reid's shot we'd be ahead... Edited November 21, 2004 by tcj_jones
Ewood Dream Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Great come back! Now let's grab the three points!
rover6 Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Oh don't boo Yorke - not because he wasn't a waste of space because I have a very nasty feeling... Hope it's nothing more than indigestion.
