anyone hear monkey noises, Yorke was very upset after the game, about some racists in the crowd???

Bruce would not comment too much on it, I did notice Yorke looked upset, to be honest I don't like him and glad not to see a smile on his face but monkey noises is a bit too far

I'm on row 19 BBE and roughly in line with where he was warming up. The Blackburn End were giving him a rendition of "One Lazy Barsteward" etc but there were certainly no monkey chants at all. The arrogant sod shouldn't have chosen that area to warm up in and certainly not respond with that trademark grin of his.

The only thing I saw was a bloke right at the front who seemed to beckon Yorke over and, just by the railings, they seemed to exchange views.

Other than that, nothing to get worked up about, except for Dwight to knock that massive chip off his shoulder.

Can't believe that's going on....particularly after everything we've had this week... sad.gif

I actually remember several years ago when I was at Fratton Park watching Portsmouth against Crewe (free ticket, nothing else to do)

Crewe's black goalkeeper 'Ince' (can't remember his first name) but he was injured and the fans thought he was wasting time, I was surrounded by fans calling him a "black c*nt" "black bast*rd" etc. and making the monkey noises.... Me and my uncle told a steward nearby who did naff all...

Racism will never be kicked out of people I'm afraid..

There was always going to be a bit of banter with Yorke and the Rovers fans.

It was right in my vision in front of me.

I saw a Rovers fan in a yellow away shirt, I think, go up to the front of the railings and said something to Yorke. Yorke reacted straight away, jumped over the sponsor boards and seemed to say something back. Before several stewards and a police officer escorted out the fan, I then saw Yorke doing an impression of a monkey to alarm people what actually went on.

The chanting of there's only one greedy.... is fine, if the Rovers fan did racially abuse Yorke, then there's no excuse.

I hope there wasn't any racist stuff in the barracking Yorke received. No doubt CCTV will find the clowns if there was any of that stuff. But the headlines are not going to do the Rovers or the town of Blackburn any favours.

I thought Yorke was going to make us pay but he was pretty anonymous when he came on.

There was a delicious cameo on the Sky commentary. A feed had obviously come through that Yorke was coming on and the commentator announced it. A minute latter we got a shot of Yorke in the dug out pottering about in his track suit "No doubt Dwight Yorke will join us in his own good time".

When he eventually appeared "and here is Dwight Yorke wrapped up in his thermals against a cold and wet Lancashire night".

We don't know what happened and hopefully the inquiry that Rvoers has announced will establish the facts. What is not helpful is Steve Bruces' post match comments, comparing Yorke's reception - which was well over the top - with the one England's black players got in Spain. A stupid, stupid man who I caught on 5Live this morning making the most inept case against racism I've heard in many a year.

Of course anyone caught using rcaism should be banned for life.

Talking out of your derriere as usual.

Yorke should be able to warm up anywhere he likes without some moron making monkey noises at him.

Wasn't you perchance ?

Sad to say that none of this surprises me. You can hear this type of racist bile every home match in the Darwen End. The only difference today appears to be that these 'people' involved don't appear to have evolved beyond the ability to simply grunt and wave their arms about.

Anyone thinking that this is an isolated incident is deluded themselves.

Just watch the media spin this one into "Blackburn, The Racist Football Club". Remember Dublin last year when the papers accused us of calling DY both a Wuss (in several papers) and a Wog (in one) when we were actually singing WASP (black and yellow stripes), so I ha've do doubt that with a clever bit of sound editing the whole hearted boo he recieved when he came on (one of the loudest I've ever heard at Ewood) was soon be perceived as Monkey Chants. When in truth what is proably happen is one drunk arse threw a bit too much abuse (which I'm not condoning).

I have a seat in pretty much the middle of the BBE and I didn't hear ANY racial abuse what so ever, sure I saw one guy go toe to toe with DY and I was way too far away to hear was he personally said, but sadly, I'm sure the tabloids will be full of how there were hundreds if not thousands partaking in rascists chants.

Radio 5 tonight reported that one fan was ejected for making offensive hand gestures, whats the guessing it gets reported as ejected for racial abuse. Radio 5 were already implying the abuse came from "the crowd" not "a fan".

I'm sorry but I can't see how the club's PR machine can combat this one, by midweek the Big Club Biased media is going to give us another kicking and there is only one way to combat it, make sure we get our side across on every national phone in, letters page and that paper editor KNOWS how we feel. GET ON THE PHONE INS, WRITE TO THE EDITORS, GET PUBLISHED ON THE LETTERS PAGE. This week the LET has shown how peoples letters can distort the perception (if their letters page was truely representative of the fans then 72% of people wouldn't have voted pro-Hughes in on survey), we should do the same to get the truth out, otherwise our fan base will have another reason not to turn up.

any one think he might have said it just cos we gave him such a bad reception!!! cos thats what makes sense to me!!! i wasnt there, but if we did make monkey jbes then thats just stupid!!! and if they can prove it, im sure we will be made scape goat for this racism issue!!!

Yorke was foolish to chose the BBE to warm up, especially when he would know that most away teams warm up at the DE and the reception he was going to receive.

I can't recall such a cacophony of boos greeting a player at Ewood as he came on the pitch.

If he was subject to racist abuse I condemn it but I heard nothing around me, albeit we are in the FS. Amongst all the booing he must have very sharp hearing to pick out anything at all.

All the players were warming up in front of the Blackburn End presumably because they were told to. When Yorke came on he was pointing to the corner of the Blackburn End and was as annoyed as i've ever seen him. If people are sad enough to boo him then fine but anything more is well out of order and indefensible to me.

"Yorke said he had been abused by TWO home fans as he warmed up prior to his 74th-minute introduction as substitute.

"They racially abused him. Dwight is bitterly upset and angry," Bruce said after the 3-3 draw. "

This is the report from the BBC which is head lining the Sports Section at the moment.

I have put the word TWO in capitals.

One of them was intercepted by the stewards for hand gestures if you read on through the report.
