jim mk2 Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Far too much optimism. Not one prediction of a Rovers defeat. Which usually means only one outcome. I said 1-1 but I'm now going for 2-1 Newcastle. Shearer to score twice.

SouthAussieRover Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Rovers 0 Newcastle 4 Crowd of 24,001.
1864roverite Posted December 21, 2004 Author Posted December 21, 2004 considering nufc have sold 8000 tickets, Rovers have almost sold out the Darwen and Blackburn End I would guestimate the crowd to be the biggest of the season. 29k+
Jan Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 I won't predict but just pray for a Rovers win. To make Christmas and the New Year really special, this should prompt a run by Rovers and a complete collapse by Newcastle, resulting in us sticking two fingers up to Souness as we pass him on the way down and culminating in his sacking by Freddie Shepherd. Oh and if they could be relgated too, pretty please!!!
rover6 Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Hughes bemoans the lack of flair and creativity in the team. I think the players should be up for this one.

Lack of flair in the team - we all know about that but at least he hasnt blamed lady luck yet. Anyway 2-1 Rovers Bramble 2 (og's) Robert for them Edited December 21, 2004 by Cocker
den Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Sounds like Shearer may not play. Shame, I'd have loved the rovers' fans to have the chance to say goodbye. LINK
roversWASmylife Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Rovers 3 - 3 Newcastle Entertaining draw in an open game. With the Souness and what reception he'll get, I probably end up giving him a bit of stick. Yes, he did give us some good memories, winning a trophy, finishing sixth and a brief spell in the UEFA Cup. But the sour memories will always stick in my mind.
Ozz Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 If Shearer can`t play, then get him to do the draw at half time with Beamo, that way he gets a proper thanks and good-bye. I would hope for no repeat of the boxing day nightmare that was Sunderland a year or two back, and think it will be a good entertaining game. Rovers to win, 3-1 and that flatters Newcastle.
Alan75 Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Looks like a sell out on Sunday, struggled to get 3 seats together in the Jack Walker Stand.
greggyk Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Sounds like Shearer may not play. Shame, I'd have loved the rovers' fans to have the chance to say goodbye. LINK I'd prefer the 3 points. great news!

I said 1-1 but I'm now going for 2-1 Newcastle. Shearer to score twice. got to agree with Jim here. Ps. Jan LET IT GO. HE IS NO LONGER WITH ROVERS
greggyk Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Just heard Gary Flitcrofts interview on radio rovers basically having a go at souness. He said he tried to get rid of him but he stood his ground and is loving playing for Hughes and does not want to leave. He said its no longer the same old training every day like with souness and he cant wait till boxing day.

Nice one Ozziejones......spot on!! I REALLY do hope that happens...a fitting farewell to show we're not all 'bitters' Edited December 21, 2004 by SIMON GARNERS 194
grizfoot Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Rovers 2-1 Newcastle Ferguson 34 -- Bellamy 86 Todd 90 ------- Bellamy & Souness s/o Attendance: 26,785 COME ON ROVERS
Tango Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Dreamt last night that we won 1-0, forgotten who scored though.
Brownie Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Needs to play the likes of Todd and Flitcroft for this one, players with points to prove. Hopefully Dickov will get at Bramble and we'll scramble home with Shearer missing. Fergie needs to get back to his imperious best for this one.
Brownie Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 From a Geordie site aimed at a Rovers fan How many games have you been at where both sets of supporter hate the same manager. expect some fun and games, you can join in the singing if you like!
LeChuck Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Can't see us winning this one if we keep the same strikeforce, even the Newcastle defence shouldn't have too much problem coping with our toothless attack. Newcastle aren't on form but they do have quite a lot of pace in the side and that's not something we deal well with, the only chance we have is if we can dominate the centre of the midfield, something that's not impossible especially as Bowyer will be suspended, he's been their most impressive player in there so far. Personally, I'd line-up like this... Friedel Neill Todd Nissa McEveley Emerton Ferguson Flitty MGP Stead Gallagher
Brownie Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Nissa in for Short will be the only change unless Hughes goes for a change up front. I'd put Stead back in there alongside Dickov, with Gallagher warming up on the sidelines.
92er Posted December 21, 2004 Posted December 21, 2004 Jim-both Souness and Allardyce have cancelled Christmas for their players. 2 defeats for us then.
bellamy11 Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 I cant believe it myself but then again you never know especially where Bellamy is conceerned, I mean he is an annoying little prat aint he ? He is, I dont know how Clare puts up with him. Cheeky get!!
SuperStella Posted December 22, 2004 Posted December 22, 2004 Looks like one medal Shearer could be out
