Savage Signs

There wasn't anything over his right shoulder so no idea what he was looking at.

Thankfully he wasn't looking over to his left as thats where I was sat biggrin.gif

The Brummies are laughing about that interview. Apparently when Savage starts making exaggerated movements not to look at the camera, he is not to bew trusted. ohmy.gif

there is a report circulating that IF Savage plays at Birmingham Rovers will have to foot the estimated £100,000 police bill for the match policing.

If that is true then the goons at Birmingham should pay the policing bill, granted that Savage plays. They are the ones who have made a simple transfer turn into a massive safety concern, for both crowd and club staff.

From what gold said it is written into the deal that he cannot play this season vs brum at st andrews... As he was scared of him scoring the goal to relegate them!

Happy with the signing, but perhaps even happier how our board have conducted themselves. Whilst b'ham were off blabbing to the papers, or making comments on the radio against Rovers, John Williams calmly said nothing but the minimum to the media and quietly went around his business of making a 2 or 3 offers for Savage. Gold, Sullivan and Brady have come out looking hyprocritcal, liers and moaners which gives indication of their amateurish board.

In end, we have got the player we want and that in terms of off the field, blackburn is far more of a premiership club than b'ham could ever hope to be.

Lastly, does anybody know the exact details of the deal. Ive heard around £3m, but how much is that up front, or after a certain amount of apps etc.

We should never do business with the current Birmingham regime again.

Yes we should, the list of Rovers-Birmingham deals in the past few years makes staggering reading. Bargain buy in Savage coupled with them paying over the odds(the odds generally being a stick of gum and a couple of lollies) for the likes of Dunn(how many games has he played for them?), Taylor(haha), and the Carribean slug.

David Gold should stick to pornography, he obviously has no clue about football. C'mon they've just signed, wait for it, Salif Diao, it's bloodly priceless.

Has anyone read this pile of crap

We're not bitter honest

in case the link doesn't work it's an interview of Blues "legend" Robert Hopkins (Who?) saying (and I quote)

think what a lot of people can't understand is why Blackburn?" he questioned. "Not in a million years will they ever be a bigger club than Blues.

"It's up north in the back of beyond as well and he's going to have to watch it because those cobbled streets will ruin his Bentley!

"You can't say it's for football reasons he's gone and I thought it was terrible the way he brought his family into it, even if he does want to be closer to them.

cant they just shutup now and accept he's gone. Birmingham have become a laughing stock over this.

Come on Izzitnot, allow us the moment of excitement at signing a new player.

Do you know whether Savage can play on April 30 or not? There seem to be so many different stories going about.

How roused are the Birmingham rabble that Sullivan is rabble rousing?

I now look at it this way. We payed 1 million plus Yorke and Tiny for Savage. If you look at it like that it is a great deal. If you look at it as we paid 3 million, not a great deal, but not a terrible one. I'm just worried about the age and length of contract.

Because we like talking about our players. Yes, that's it, our players. He's signed for us, and I know it must be hard for you to watch your best player leave a massive, vast, ginormous club like Birmingham for lickle ickle Blackburn Rovers, but please, keep spouting nonsense about how you don't need him/thought he was crap along along/etc, it's highly entertaining.

The article in question ;

"But it still doesn't make sense why he's gone to Blackburn. He was treated like a god here, he was part of a team that's improving and a club that wants to go places.

and

To be honest, we've become an average team and we need to get a replacement for Savage - because we will miss what he gave us on the pitch - and some other top quality players."

Make your mind up you thick git !

the general attitude by blues fans is anger but relief, they knew this has been coming for weeks

blues fans have witnessed a player who gave his all for the club for over 80 games, they are sad about how savage didnt have a word to say about em when leaving, he could have thanked us for supporting him through the past 2 years, so it has saddened quite a few fans but also has left them bitter and angered

Bruce never did anything wrong, he publically supported savage through his "on the field problems", ie villa headbutting incident, disciplinary record, and loud mouth comments concerning opposing teams

end of the day bcfc fans havent done anything wrong, majority never slagged him off when he handed in his transfer request, they just wanted the truth, if he just said that he wanted to play for hughes and bowen then we would of accepted it but to use his family as a reason is pretty sick considering gronkjear used the same excuse when joining us back in august, savage was saying his father was ill, the day after the sun reported his father was spotted drinking in his local and that he is a regular along with picking up his morning paper every day smile.gif

as for the april 30th game the owners of bcfc are saying he will not be elegible to play as they want £100k for police presence cos no doubt if savage does play there will be some fans itching to get onto the pitch and give him beating

I personally want him to play cos the atmosphere will be immense, I'm not worried that he could be the deciding factor in beating us come 30th april, i am worried that fans could run on the pitch and get the club into trouble, ie points and fine smile.gif

dont quote me on this

FA Premier league say that clubs cannot use such clauses unless it is a loan deal

put it this way

villa fans hated savage and when they ran onto the pitch they went straight for him

now think of blues fans, some of them will hate him and i guarantee they will go for him

you will need a police escort to get into the ground let alone play

have u ever seen such a huge police presence outside a football ground barracading the away end of st andrews, the thug element is nearly gone but on special occasions they will be able to do some damage

I can understand why the Birmingham fans are upset, I feel the same about Ferguson, and I can understand why the Brum board didn't want him to leave - especially to us after the history with Bowen.

What I can't understand though is the way Bruce, Sullivan, Brady and Gold have been in the media virtually every day slagging Savage, Rovers, Bowen, Hughes and anyone else they can possibly think of. How does that help anyone? Do Birmingham fans feel better because of it? Did it mean Rovers had to pay more than they otherwise would have? Do they think they've gained the moral high ground?

The reality is that the Birmingham management have turned an already messy situation into a farce and have ended up looking completely ridiculous in the process. They've behaved like they've not had a clue what to do from the first minute we were linked to Savage, and have just thrown their toys out of the pram instead of acting professionally and doing what's best for their club.

Just read that article- sums Birmingham City up perfectly. Conceited, contradictory, abusive, easilly offended and basically ****-scared that with their injuries and loss of Savage, they could be in deep trouble.

What a vote of confidence in Diao tongue.gif

"Blues Legend"?!? I have got a brain which hordes useless information, particularly remembering players Rovers have played against but no way can I remember this guy playing at Birmingham, Man City or West Brom.

Dear old Simon Garner is much more of a national household name.

Incidentally, isn't it interesting how people deride history when they don't have any themselves?

Forget the pricks on the board. To be fair if we were Birmingham fans we'd be pretty miffed at the way Savage has conducted himself in the last 6 weeks.

To pick up on the Brum interview, why couldn;t savage have come here for footballing reasons? Look what we've achieved compared to Birmingham in the past 10 years. As far as building a team on the pitch we can obviously pay very similar wages and transfer fee's as this deal shows. The clubs are very similar. Maybe Savage, knowing both sets of managerial and coaching staffs, has decided were the most likely to progress.

they could be in deep trouble.

think your over reacting slightly

you honestly think the bottom 3 clubs this season are gonna get more than 35 points ?

WBA havent won more than 6 games in over 50 since arriving in the premiership

southampton have lost kevin phillips [injury] and james beattie

Norwich are gonna struggle cos they havent the financial muscle to buy their way out of it

Hasta, you are dead right and that is why it became so acrimonious.

If you have ever met Steve Bruce, you will know how conceited and self-righteous he is. He will be in agonies over this.

Savage probably brought his parents into this simply because saying "I would prefer to play for Mark Hughes and Mark Bowen" was not going to help matters at St Andrews.

Gold and Sullivan have very high opinions of themselves and deep down are probably sore about the cheques they've been writing for messrs Dunn, Taylor and Yorke. I also suspect they would have been uncomfortable about the Yorke abuse row and how they ended up saying different things and backing a player whom they were about to ditch.

Having Rovers march in and take Savage in very similar circumstances to how they took Bruce from Palace must have added insult to injury.

As for Karen Brady, she's cute and quite sharp but I'm not going to write or say what I really think has been going on there.
