Izzitnot Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 it is about moving on really savage has done his job in establishing blues in the premiership and it is time we moved on and found a replacement with bruce he gets the best out of players with the exception of a few , who would of thought birmingham surviving 1st season in the premiership with a majority of 1st division players including robbie savage a player who was nothing than a loud mouth as birmingham have improved so has robbie savage and I can honestly say hand on heart that birmingham wont be in a relegation battle whilst bruce is at the club simply cos bruce has put that battling attitude into the players I can honestly say birmngham and blackburn are safe this season as the points tally will be a record low for safety, WBA / Norwich / Southampton will all struggle to get over 30 points this season meaning the two respective clubs in question are almost there we have made a profit on savage and he has played the best years of his career so far at birmingham, he joined the club in his prime at 27 and now is 30 and will 31 beginning of nxt season, so really birmingham should be grateful for getting £3 million and blackburn should be grateful for gettin a replacement for their expensive wantaway midfielder it will be interesting to see how blackburn adapt their tactics for savage so the game v bolton is a must see !!!

greggyk Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Now come on, we know you didnt write that big long post yourself. Good work on the copy and paste from another Brum forum.
broadsword Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 And still it's not been done! I can't remember a more protracted transfer!
philipl Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Good things come to those who wait (except Glasgow Rangers!). Given the aqmount of vitriol there has been, I fully expect Brum to play a dirty to delay Savage's registration until it is too late for him to play against Notlob. Still no doubt JW is enjoying the masterclass ready to try a few tricks on Murray and Viola.
greggyk Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 sky have just shown pitures of Savage leaving the training ground. I'd expect him to sign by tonights game and he'll do the half time draw.
LondonBluenose1976 Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 (edited) Finally back to Savage. This was more a personalised battle for Steve Bruce than anything to do with Brum v Rovers. He lost Bowen in very acrimonious circumstances. Now his best player has moved primarilly because he would prefer to work with Bowen and Hughes than with Bruce. This must HURT. With all due respect...David Dunn is by a mile our "best player". Then Upson, then Heskey, then Cunningham. Savage was a big player for us, but let's not overstate the case. Tris Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Gold is one sad idiot. Check out his self-glorifying comments at the end of this article, making out he's won some sort of tussle with Deadly Doug. It's pathetic. ic Birmingham - click the top story
BigDom Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Gold has said that Savage moving to a "smaller" club ? Who do they think they are ? What the **** have they ever won ?
rosie Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Well he had to say something didn't he so he's spun some @#/? to make himself feel better. My heart bleeds.
Izzitnot Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 i am trying to be diplomatic here u wind me up 2 much and i will be back once the savage incident goes sour and really rub it in
Guest Kamy100 Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 (edited) Right aside from the arguments with the Birmingham fans I have pondering if Savage is good signing or not. I have to admit that whenever I have seen him play not really been impressed by him. Yes he runs around alot and is definately a player with high energy, but i have always been alarmed by the fact that he seems to bomb forward and leave alarming gaps in midfield. I am not saying he is a bad player because he definately has qualities but the question is whether he can fit into the way we have been playing recently, I have been impressed by the way Hughes has made the team very compact, the way we play as a unit and are hard to breakdown, it may not be the most exciting form of football but it was exactly what we needed. I just hope that Savage doesn't upset the cohesion that we have shown latterly. Edited January 19, 2005 by Kamy100

Izzitnot Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 fs savage sign for blackburn this is starting to take the ###### you will also find in his contract that he will refuse to play reserve team football and always has to be play if fit and available, he wont settle for the bench and has to start every match
stuwilky Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 That wont be in the contract. Didnt he play for your reserves the other day - just after it was announced to the world that he was going to rot in the reserves for the rest of his contract?

My mate's favourite player he is very upset at him leaving! giving me his savage shirt lol! My other mate went from loving him to hating his guts! theres no doubting he was a massive player for you, but with carter playing well i think you have an able replacement. It is a big loss for you hense why your chairman dragged it out for 2 weeks trying to get him to change his mind. But a player is a player, they move on, the club is always there!

You were crowing the other day about not letting him go until you had a replacement. Not so happy now, eh?! Firing off random jibes doesn't help you much either. What with you being a "bigger club" than us, Porn Gold having more money than God, Jobbie Savage being past his best blah blah blah, it really seems to have got to you doesn't it? I suspect you're miffed at losing him and are just trying to make out it's what you wanted all along. Feel free to come back and have a go all you like, there's been so many mickey-takes on here it just ain't true.

I just hope that Savage doesn't upset the cohesion that we have shown latterly. I think you have a point in that he is not one of the more 'tactically aware' players. If you saw the Russia v Wales play-off you would have seen him perform some 20/30 yard fist-pumping runs just to close down a full back or a defender. Hard graft and endeavour? Maybe but all he achieved was to knacker himself out and leave a gaping big hole in the midfield behind him. Maybe Hughes will correct those indiscretions but nonetheless the 3 million price tag does strike me as far too much when you think Michael Carrick moved for a similar fee. Imo we should have gambled on a younger, cheaper option from div 1/2. Granted, doing that is a big risk but so is signing a player who is arguably past his best now.
Rovermatt Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Gold has said that Savage moving to a "smaller" club ? Who do they think they are ? What the **** have they ever won ? That old chestnut; the 'small club' slur. The facts would suggest otherwise, although we can't beat Villa on a regular basis and that must be the sign of big club. Isn't it?
greggyk Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Well Birmingham had one of the best defensive records last season. He couldn't have left that bigger gaps could he.
Duffy Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 it will be interesting to see how blackburn adapt their tactics for savage so the game v bolton is a must see !!! "If" Savage signs in time for the Bolton game and plays, I very much doubt that we would need to change our tactics to suit him given the (what was it?!) 6 bookings in the game against Portsmouth - he'll just fit straight in As for being a "smaller" club - we are currently only 1 point behind Birmingham in the league (them lying in 14th), so I don't think Birmingham should be blowing any trumpets right now anyway.
