Ferguson Hands in Transfer Request

No Nay Never

Recommended Posts

Where's the ambition gone? Going back to Scotland is definately a step backwards for him! So why would he go! Unless he's been tapped up or his idiot of an agent just wants more money! And if he's homesick, well the plane only takes an hour! After only 1 and a half years as well! He hasn't even played a full season! Perhaps he can't hack it!

Gotta get 6 million for him though at least!

I will be disappointed if we don't get at least our £6.5m back.

Why? Do you honestly believe he is worth that?

Whether or not he's worth that is immaterial - the club are in a strong bargaining position and if Rangers want him that badly, they'll find the money (if indeed it's Rangers that Barry's wanting to go to and not Newcastle...).

I do not want a player playing for us if he doesnt want to and has handed in a transfer request. We therfore whould sell him as close to his REAL value. No matter how badly Rangers may want him they will not be as stupid as we were and really overpay for him.

We are not in a strong bargaining position as we have a player who wants to leave. That means we have to consider it. It will harm the team otherwise.

I I also dont care where he wants to go to. I just want shot of the vastly overated prat of a Scottish Captain.

The thing that dissapoints me the most, as Bryan mentioned, is the fact he picked up his wages whilst being injured for 6 months.

It's not all that gutting though considering his patchy form. Big question is whether Hughes has enough time to get someone else in. If he doesn't - we are very short of quality midfield players

& one other thing - all this nonsense about the £2.5 million yet to be paid is a complete red herring.

That money will have been firmly in the budget, so it's not like we have to find it from somewhere.

Whatever money we get for Barry - I'm sure Hughes will be allowed to spend the full amount on a new player.

Good player, perhaps slightly under acheived but he did have a serious injury.

Nobody can blame him if he wants to move back to Rangers for his family's sake, perhaps he could have thought the move through more at the time.

He came, he got injured, he did ok, he's going home.

I'm sure nobody will be gutted. There willl be those disspaointed but Savage can have more influence if he ever signs.

The thing we must remember here is that would Ferguson hand in a transfer request knowing that Rangers or whoever are only slightly interested. He must know something. As Savage did, he knew if he just waiting for a week or so they would agree a fee and bingo move granted!

He couldn't risk handing a transfer request in as club captain without being sure he can move.

Neill and Todd for captian and vice captain respectively.

I'm sure he knows exactly where's he going Martin.

The wages conversation has probably already been had too.

Oh well, cheers Bazza, see you soon.

However if thats what he wants that whe he wants, if hes picked then he had better play with full commitment or else.

Anyway Thommo as CM is looking better and better at the mo.

hmmm Jan vindicated again, if shes not careful i might have to start listening to her biggrin.gif

I didn't say we didn't have to consider his transfer request. Nor do I want a player on our books who wants to leave but we can still hold out for the highest price. We shouldn't just bow to Rangers (or whoever) because he wants to leave for pity's sake!

There may yet be a bidding war. Expect at least a week of speculation before anything is agreed.

Yes, we can hold out for the biggest price. But that price can only be a realistic valuation. You cannot hold out for more than a player is worth (in comparison toi similar players on the market or have been sold) just beacuase you overpaid for him.

Well well well. I can only say this, if Ferguson goes back to Scotland he has let himself down. Clearly it is a step backwards I would have thought a top Professional would want to play at the highest level, week in week out. If he stays in the Prem and goes to a bigger club with more opportunity to win things fair enough, but to return to the Mickey Mouse league north of the border shows him perhaps his true light.

If he does not have the bottle to battle every game then he is not for us anyway.

Now, any suitable replacements?

All these comments about Barry being a disruptive influence if he stays are a bit wide of the mark.

Yes, Savage would rip the place apart but wee timorous Barry?

I think we can comfortably let the window close without him gone if we don't get our asking price, whatever that may be.

We want more than that!!! tongue.gif

Yeah, but few clubs are as bad as we have been for overpaying for players.

Please think before you type, there have been lot's of white elephants at many clubs, the big clubs too. It's just that the big clubs just get rid, get someone else and keep winning so it all seems to be "glossed over" somewhat.

It's very naive to assume we deserve to get back for Ferguson what we paid. As well as the realisation that Souness miscalculated on a player's Premiership ability (yet again) and paid over the odds, there's also the matter of depreciation. The contract has less time to run and I cant see that Ferguson is a drastically improved player from when he arrived.

He has been poor quality for our investment but his departure (hopefully replaced by Savage) will be another step in Rovers transition from being Souness' team to Hughes' team, which has been 100% positive so far.

As for Ferguson, his commitment to Rovers on the pitch has not convinced in recent weeks. The running and willingness shown by the likes of Thommo, Gally, Dickov & Emerton, who all clearly want to play for Hughes/Rovers, has put that of our so-called 'captain' to shame. If he plays for us again, look out for him at throw-ins. He will often be the nearest man to the throw but very rarely moves to receive it and often actively holds back. When we have looked for someone to spur us on in recent weeks the man to deliver has been Todd, Thommo or Dickov - never Captain Shortarse Average-at-best Ferguson.

True but what do we gain? If he trulty wants to leave he wont put his all in for the club adn will probably be on the bench with Savage and Thommo starting.

Hes probably is on 30k a week, that will be about £750k in slary we would pay him before we have a chance to sell him again. That has to be considred as well.

Get real. Parker Will not leave Chelsea for a club like us. Its just the sort of peron he is and he probably like sthe bright lights of London too much. Plus he is similarly over rated to Feguson so we would overpay yet again.
