DanLad Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 I think (and I really are not sure) that it dates back to medievil times and was used to insult the French. You see if an English archer was caught by the French he would have his fingers lopped of so he couldnt use a bow and arrow. So by flicking the V's its a funny way of saying heres my fingers. Edit - Oh yeah almost forgot. Ferguson is @#/?. That's a myth according to QI. (Not the Ferguson but. That's true...)

Ozz Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Hey can someone enlighten me on the meaning of the V-sign? Seems to me like a harmless gesture It's sign language for vuck off.
Billy Castell Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Ferguson and McGregor both go on some all-night bender with other players inbetween internationals, get punished and then sit on the bench giving v-signs to the cameras. That is what happened isn't it? Personally, I'd be more annoyed by the drinking that's just me I guess. What happened to the other players who were also having a session?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 That's a myth according to QI. (Not the Ferguson but. That's true...) I thought the myth was the VE Day thing and the truth was the lopping off of fingers? And I did see that episode, too.

LeChuck Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 (edited) Look who's coming back to the Premier League. I wonder if he'll be able to stick it away from home for longer this time? I hope he gets the loudest booing of any player at Ewood this year. Edit: Apologies, I have just noticed this in another thread. Edited July 15, 2009 by LeChuck
Hughesy Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Looked good in the mickey mouse league, got found out in a proper league.
LeftWinger Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I thought the myth was the VE Day thing and the truth was the lopping off of fingers? Aren't the two fingers used by an archer different to those in a V sign?
bazza Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I hope Barry is looking forward to the intense rivalry and unbelievable atmosphere of Brum's local derby against er Stoke? Wolves? Oh no. It's Coventry and they are in a different division.
American Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Looked good in the mickey mouse league, got found out in a proper league. Got found out by an injury - was just starting to play very well for us when he got hurt. Shame what got found out is how much of a wuss he was.

bazza Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Um, how about Villa ?? Yes, Jim. When Ferguson was with us he thought our big rivalry was with Bolton and was disappointed when there was a poor derby atmosphere.
bigbrandjohn Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Rangers midfielder Pedro Mendes is confident that Ferguson would be a success in his second spell down south. "He is a very good player and I don't think he would have any problems," the former Portsmouth player said "Quality players can adapt themselves pretty well and Barry is a quality player so I don't think he would have any problems adapting himself to the Premier League." Obviously not a quality Player based on previous experience, although there may be a greater choice of late night hostelries in Birmingham which should make him feel at home this time around
Inta Beaver Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Only £1m, that's a good deal, what did we pay for Grella??? Good work Ince!
Blue blood Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Regarding Ferguson's ability didn't someone connected with the club - maybe Parkes - place him in the best rovers 11 he'd seen, saying he was one of the most talented individuals he'd seen? Or am I just making that up? Bit torn on this one, not least cause he's a pillock. He does seem to have ability, and it's a good price. Mind you, if Hughes who kept Bellamy and Savage and the like in line struggled to man manage Ferguson, I think anyone would struggle to, as several rangers bosses have found out.

Mind you, if Hughes who kept Bellamy and Savage and the like in line struggled to man manage Ferguson, I think anyone would struggle to, as several rangers bosses have found out. He was brilliant before he did his knee. Like so many others that injury took his game away to the extent that I'm actually pleased Rangers are getting shot. Eck should know better, I'm surprised he's taking him.
Billy Castell Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 I wonder if wee Barry has arranged for his local chippy to make deep fried mars bars so he doesn't get homesick? Or for the porno boys to sign songs about the UVF? I hope he gets stitched up like a kipper every week.
T4E Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Or for the porno boys to sign songs about the UVF? Having followed Ferguson's career for many years I would have expected to have understood most references to him, but that one has totally lost me.
Billy Castell Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 The whole Old Firm, bigotry, Belfast Lite nonsense that the fans indulge in over at Weegieland.
daveoftherovers Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 (edited) He's going to get ripped to shreds and the big club fans will witness him watching the game go by him until he does something petulant or get's homesick for his mumsy again, what a tart! Edited July 18, 2009 by daveoftherovers

John Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 (edited) He was decent yesterday against Spurs. "I don't want to defend myself or sound arrogant but when Souness left, Mark Hughes wanted to build the team around me. Edited August 30, 2009 by John
