I think (and I really are not sure) that it dates back to medievil times and was used to insult the French.

You see if an English archer was caught by the French he would have his fingers lopped of so he couldnt use a bow and arrow. So by flicking the V's its a funny way of saying heres my fingers.

Edit - Oh yeah almost forgot. Ferguson is @#/?.

That's a myth according to QI.

(Not the Ferguson but. That's true...)

Ferguson and McGregor both go on some all-night bender with other players inbetween internationals, get punished and then sit on the bench giving v-signs to the cameras. That is what happened isn't it? Personally, I'd be more annoyed by the drinking that's just me I guess. What happened to the other players who were also having a session?

I hope Barry is looking forward to the intense rivalry and unbelievable atmosphere of Brum's local derby against er Stoke? Wolves? Oh no. It's Coventry and they are in a different division.

Looked good in the mickey mouse league, got found out in a proper league.

Got found out by an injury - was just starting to play very well for us when he got hurt. Shame what got found out is how much of a wuss he was.

Yes, Jim.

When Ferguson was with us he thought our big rivalry was with Bolton and was disappointed when there was a poor derby atmosphere.

Rangers midfielder Pedro Mendes is confident that Ferguson would be a success in his second spell down south.

"He is a very good player and I don't think he would have any problems," the former Portsmouth player said

"Quality players can adapt themselves pretty well and Barry is a quality player so I don't think he would have any problems adapting himself to the Premier League."

Obviously not a quality Player based on previous experience, although there may be a greater choice of late night hostelries in Birmingham which should make him feel at home this time around

Regarding Ferguson's ability didn't someone connected with the club - maybe Parkes - place him in the best rovers 11 he'd seen, saying he was one of the most talented individuals he'd seen? Or am I just making that up?

Bit torn on this one, not least cause he's a pillock. He does seem to have ability, and it's a good price. Mind you, if Hughes who kept Bellamy and Savage and the like in line struggled to man manage Ferguson, I think anyone would struggle to, as several rangers bosses have found out.

He was brilliant before he did his knee. Like so many others that injury took his game away to the extent that I'm actually pleased Rangers are getting shot.

Eck should know better, I'm surprised he's taking him.

Or for the porno boys to sign songs about the UVF?

Having followed Ferguson's career for many years I would have expected to have understood most references to him, but that one has totally lost me.

He's going to get ripped to shreds and the big club fans will witness him watching the game go by him until he does something petulant or get's homesick for his mumsy again, what a tart!

Maybe Tony was having, what we call in the business, a 'Ray Mathias moment'?
