How poor was Paul Gallagher, blessed with the pace of a slug.. it pains me to say it as a local lad who should be giving all the support i can offer but i'm afraid Gally just doesnt inspire.

Gally looked like hed struggle to get in the Dingle team.

Burnley didnt have one chance and i was never in doubt that rovers would not concede.

I didnt think the game was that bad!!

decent performance and we should stuff em at ewood.

Er ... they did have a few chances. We didn't play particularly well.

Dickov should definitely have scored and that was a penalty in my book.

In all honesty I thought we played as a Premiership side should against lower division opposition. We waited for the chances to come and unfortunately when they did come we just could'nt find the net.

We'll have them at Ewood.

Delighted with the result. I would have taken anything but a Rovers defeat and we have done the hard job. Back to Ewood where we need to create a similar atmopshere to today and finish the job off. The hard work has been done and im delighted to still be in the hat. Cup football can sometimes give a shot in the back, so happy to escape with a draw.

C'mon Rovers lets do em at Ewood!! rover.gif

A few observations about the game:

- A number of fans have mentioned on this forum that the 'clever' tactic of wingers swapping flanks achieves absolutely bugger all - except to leave the formation with about as much co-ordination as a rugby ruck as the wingers meander back to their rightful place - this was shown up today.

- Gally was not very good

- Far, far too many long balls to strikers who aren't very good in the air.

- Neill and NEJ are the weak links in our defence which was superbly marshalled in the centre by Nelsen and Todd.

- The pitch was crap and probably contributed to a disappointing spectacle.

- If only Emerton knew what to do on the ball, he'd be a world beater.

- At least we're still in the hat for the next round.

Pederson was top class today, I think he should have scored, and Dicov had a nice chance in the penalty area also. Burnley had no chances, and were clearly the underdogs. In the end this game just exemplifies the fact that Rovers are in dire need of a striker. Gallacher was disgraceful, but in all fairness Burnley were playing like a bunch of hooligans.

Heard 'Small town in yorkshire' which was great fun. An incredible atmosphere all round as 3 sides of the ground stood for the 90mins. Constant noise from both sets of fans and both must take credit for their part in the most bitter derby in English football! There was no period that the ground went quiet, so its up to us to re-create that in the replay at Ewood.

Johnson was awful no way will he ever be a premiership player, jimmy krankie is stronger then his little lad. The needs the ball played to his feet why the hell keep hoofing it up to him expecting him to sprout inspector gadget legs.

Gallagher why was he on the pitch he did nothing apart from chase shadows

Why o Why was Stead left out?! obviously with the release of the G4 album last monday promotional work is key priority.

Thompson should start next match hes the only one with any skill to beat a player and create something.

Nelsen is immense looks like the birthchild of frankenstein and hunchback of nostadamme though.

I thought Pedersen had a decent enough game today and was probably our biggest threat. This was it has to be said on an atrocious pitch. He was very unlucky with that free-kick in the first half also.

Set piece delivery was poor from everyone but MGP got three efforts on target (2 free kicks and a header) together with another header just over the bar.

We desperately need re-enforcement up front in the summer thats a given but WHERE ON EARTH WAS STEAD!!

Dickov should've scored. Gallagher looked pretty lost.

Defence I thought was solid enough. Nissa does a job at left back but a specialist whould give us much more an option.

Tugay wasn't in the game. Savage was all over the place in a typical performance. Emerton was just frustrating. LOOK UP MAN!

You always wonder if the players are up for this game and thankfully they were. In a hostile atmosphere and on a dodgy pitch they were more than up to the fight and got a draw despite not playing fantastically well.

On another day we might have got a goal but we're in the hat for tomorrow and should play better in the replay.

Fans were quality biggrin.gif

Bit harsh, People call for lads from the academy to be called up. He gets his chance and people like you slate him for not doing much in the 10-15 minutes he was on.

exactly... give him time... he's still not even old enough to drink in his homeland smile.gif

Pissing video packed in on me....didn't get to see the game. mad.gif That's the last time I ever decide to tape a football game instead of watching it.

From the comments of the members that saw the game a draw sounds fair enough, but a replay could be a big inconvenience for us. Still, it means another derby. Is the replay being shown on telly as well?

Just a bit premature to cast Jemal as a no-hoper but I agree that the long balls were a bit ridiculous. As were the long balls to Dickov and Gallagher. Johnson came into a difficult game and didn't receive many good passes so I think it's mightily unfair to start castigating him.

Paul Gallagher, however, is a different matter because he was truly abysmal. His feet seemed to repel the ball miles away everytime he went to control the ball. What has happened to the skilful forward who was blasting a goal trail through reserve/youth team football?

I echo the thoughts of those calling for a return of Steadinho. The thing is, Gallagher is playing poorly and not scoring, whereas Stead was playing ok but not scoring at the beginning of the season. We desperately need some height up there so, I can't see the sense not even giving Jon Stead a place on the bench.

Bringing a striker on late in the game is pointless if the player is nervous, small and not very good. At least we know stead CAN score he just perhaps is feeling understandably underconfident.

Very average performance from the Rovers today. It could have been worse, although that Valois was the only player to cause us any problems. Nelsen, Todd, Pedersen and Savage were outstanding, but I was becoming increasingly frustrated with Emerton and Gallagher. At least this gives us the opportunity to dick them 5-0 again at Ewood.

Our defense looks different class to the start of the season. The pitch helped burnly, i think Gallagher who likes to play neat and tidy football struggles in these games. Pedersen looks quality and confident. We are desperate for a striker, and one with heading and strength if possible. But i think a replay is good for the club. The full house which should be expected will generate abit of cash whilst we should beat them at ewood. Did anyone see that nutter on the pitch near the end. He soon backed off when reid and Nelsen stepped in lol, then punched about 3 policemen. Typical thick burnley bast*rd.

like we all already know, this match showed that we can't score... we need someone else in there beside dickov. and for me, that man is non other than jansen. he was doing fine, he was scoring, so why has he been frozen out? for me right now, i'd have him in the team ahead of gally, and stead on the bench ahead of johnson. come'on sparky, give him a run out in the replay.

Just back from watching it (thanks to our fine High Commissioner to Malta who organised a bar to show it but who is also a Burnley lad ohmy.gif )

Did Friedel have a save all game?

Todd, Nelsen, Savage, Pedersen were immense but nobody had a bad game.

We had three chances (pedersen's early header over, Dickov's ono-on-one scoop wide and Pedersen's header against Roche's head and arm) which on another day could have gone in.

The noise was fantastic all game. Shame about the empty seats at the Burnley end but now we have got to fill Ewood before we rubbish them- doubt the dingles are capable of selling out the Darwen End but lets see.

Word of hope- no more 5th Round draws so we can watch the replay please.

Word of warning- this set of Dingles is a much better footballing side than Stan Ternent's Italian Jobload of minis. They will enjoy playing on a good surface at Ewood.
