just to add a bit more. the control the police have had over the two games has been pretty much spot on (apart from the obvious pr!ck at burnley) and it's proved that we're moving towards exactly what it should be (ie a highly tense, hard fought derby between two of the oldest and most viocerious rivals in the country). have your singalong about bananas and feet, mums and dads etc but all that side of it all devalues both teams and the game so much. it's not neccessary, there's enough to get excited about on the field.

The injury legacy of the match is not unhelpful. Bothroyd out for season. Hardly a disaster. Has he done anything positive apart from score a tap-in against Pool? At least Stead might make it to the bench. Reid or even Thompson for Emerton hardly weakens the team. At least Reid moves forwards.

i know you all like to pretend you wish burnley would disappear to the lancashire pie & peas league division nine but deep down you must realise that it's not just another game. look at the discussion, the excitement, even the atmosphere it created. are you seriously telling me it'd be like that against a team you didn't have respect for? against middlesboro or norwich? never in a million years.

obviously as a claret i'd love the chance to play you every season because we'd most probably be in the premier league but can you honestly say you wouldn't look forward to the last two game's between the clubs season in, season out. it's a proper rivalry. 99% of all the rest of the clubs in Britain would love a rivalry like this.

Well said i think that sums up the current situation at the mo, but anyway onto the game and firstly the atmosphere which always comes up.

I was sitting towards the middle of the jack walker upper ie the perfect situation to hear both the bbe and the dingles. To say that either end was quiet is absolute nonsense. In the first half we seemed more up for it and the atmosphere was better from brfc up to the dingle goal. From that period till about the 70min the dingles were on top. For the last 15mins till we scored it was even stevens as the bbe created the atmosphere needed for 1 last effort. The winner of course meant that 3/4 of ewood was going wild for the next 10 mins. However i dont think ive ever seen a darwen end react so explosively to when burnley scored it looked like people were jumping up and down rows!

As for the game i thought we were pretty poor, burnley were well organized defensive, but after all we're the prem team and its our job to break them down. Nerves got the better of us until MGP superb winner, it seemed to take an age for the ball to hit the net after going past the keeper biggrin.gif . Incredible at the end, i felt brilliant so satisfying.

Blackburn before and after reminded me of the pictures ive seen of Belfast from the 70's during the troubles. Tension in the air, the police on every corner as if there was a bomb scare, parts of the town centre blocked off, flashing blue lights in the distance and the constant wail of sirens. All this for football! rolleyes.gif

We are thru and that is be all and end all. Who cares about performance as the cup does that to teams, are Exceter as good as united cos they drew at OT? Course not bring on the Leicester!

Your interbred, ya Burnley scum rover.gif

Stephen Reid only played about 15 minutes across the two games. He looked direct and lively last night which is something that no other midfielder had managed to do and he set up the goal with a surge over the halfway line. He also managed to chase a dingle off the pitch at Turf moor whilst the police and stewards just watched.

Not a bad cameo appearance! rover.gif

...... are you seriously telling me it'd be like that against a team you didn't have respect for?........

Not one of us has respect (I hate that word) for Burnley. You have to earn respect and Burnley have never done that.

That said I do miss the East Lancs Derbies on a regular basis, but the fact that we do not play regularly in effect shows we are top dogs and have been for over a quarter of a century.

Obviously as a clarrot you'd love to play us every season cos that would mean you were on level pegging. You could make up stories about not hearing Rovers fans, how you outplayed us etc etc ad infipukem and do it every year.

Personally I would take great great pleasure to see your club and it's fans suffer the same fate your "illustrious" butcher chairman Bob Lord bestowed on Accy Stanley. I would, nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see your team and it's stupid "once were a big club" fans disappear off the face of the planet.

Once were a big club? You revel in a "history" that is non existant outside of a two or three year period in the sixties.

Yeah, I'd like to see you in the pie and peas league, no peas hold the gravy.

"Closest you've been to us in years" "the gap is closing" How fecking sad is it that a "once were big club" drools at the fact they only lost by the single goal to their most hated rivals (the ones THEY once scoffed at). It's a sign of just how pititful your team is, you boast of players with clarrot and blue blood, YOUR BEST PLAYERS ARE BORROWED.

Your other STARS are now playing in the prem reserves for their respective teams.

Bring back Stan the man, he had you in the running for two years straight, but agent kilby refused to back him, now you have rented ground, rented players but you think you are big time.

Can't wait for the day the Stanley pass you. Any of you remember a non league wombles beating a first division burnleh a the Morgue. It was a cup match, would a realist say that the wombles had a better team, no, it was the cup things happen. Day in day out youd be mullered in this division.

Later clarrots.

Mate, we wont lose to leicester if we play like we did, cos they are just as crap as you. what it comes down to is the fact that we will always score more than you. put in your best performance ever and you wouldnt get more than 4 shots on target, maybe one amazing goal like last night that 9 times out of 10 would end up in my hands 20 rows back. Rovers to always win, fact is your club are not winners, they are also rans

Lad?

Nothing to do with the fact that we won the PL, sonny, I was pointing out the dumb use of the word respect.

I'll repeat - none of us have respect for Burnley.

I'm not pretending. Its a bit tedious getting the better of you each and every time we play. I sooner play Stanley every year, while you go to Christie Park for your big local derby.

biggest crowd scumwood has had this season tongue.gif

Really?

It was 28,691 against Burnley, yet it was 29,271 for when Newcastle came down to Ewood on Boxing Day.

So it wasn't the biggest crowd of the season for when you came.

erm....you sold out against Burnley (so you say)....but not against the Geordies.....

Thanks for the hospitality Blackburn....a good days drinking in relaxed surroundings..... a free run around town....

Oh, congratulations on the result, its been an entertaining couple of weeks....... all the best in the next round wink.gif

But we didnt have stupid amounts of segregation against Newcaste.

We sold all available tickets for Burnley, however in terms of actual people through turnstiles there were more for Newcastle. Is that really so hard to understand?

thats a very courteous reply orig longsider, thank you.

I dont know the result of any burnley v leicester matches this season but I am pretty sure of what I have seen on television, they do not appear to be as organised as bumley.

I just cant see them winning at Ewood.

so its off to cardiff = £210 for a two day stay for 3 !!! tinykit.gif

so.......it was impossible for this weeks gate to be higher than against the Geordies.... but it would have been, if not for restrictions.... so it is fair to say, it was your biggest game of the season....

spose its how you interpret it....

PS....love the drum...... it all adds to the intimidating atmosphere laugh.gif

At the end you progressed, we didnt.....

But..... the rollercoaster of emotion it provides is second to non. Anyone who dont feed off it....should go and watch cricket....

Commendable again TOL even in defeat (whichever one you are that is tongue.gif )

Personally, if the atmosphere build up and tension etc could be attained I too agree - part of what I feel is missing in attending football nowadays and not just the local derbies.

Free run around town?

care to tell me when this happened?

As I have actual facts from people in the town. A good amount of Rovers fans were locked in the Sun pub by police. Burnley were escorted through the town (about 300) and then when they let Rovers out the pub they followed a good 500 yards behind.

All this talk of you 'run our town' is typical bullsh!t
