the game was a non event for me,we seemed to have partied in dubia and were not at the races.but the result was the most important thing last night and we got it.

Something I mentioned to my mate at the game Waggy - but saying it looked more likely it had been Derby rather than Dubai considering some of the performances cosidering it was Burnley's 3rd game since we played at Turd.

This is perhaps why nobody else seems to have picked up on one of their barely audible offerings..... a song rejoicing in the demise of Uncle Jack sung to the offensive Munich tune. Did anybody else here it or am I imagining things?

Heard it at the turd.

Despicable, but what can one expect?

Well said i think that sums up the current situation at the mo, but anyway onto the game and firstly the atmosphere which always comes up.

I was sitting towards the middle of the jack walker upper ie the perfect situation to hear both the bbe and the dingles. To say that either end was quiet is absolute nonsense. In the first half we seemed more up for it and the atmosphere was better from brfc up to the dingle goal. From that period till about the 70min the dingles were on top. For the last 15mins till we scored it was even stevens as the bbe created the atmosphere needed for 1 last effort. The winner of course meant that 3/4 of ewood was going wild for the next 10 mins. However i dont think ive ever seen a darwen end react so explosively to when burnley scored it looked like people were jumping up and down rows!

As for the game i thought we were pretty poor, burnley were well organized defensive, but after all we're the prem team and its our job to break them down. Nerves got the better of us until MGP superb winner, it seemed to take an age for the ball to hit the net after going past the keeper biggrin.gif . Incredible at the end, i felt brilliant so satisfying.

Blackburn before and after reminded me of the pictures ive seen of Belfast from the 70's during the troubles. Tension in the air, the police on every corner as if there was a bomb scare, parts of the town centre blocked off, flashing blue lights in the distance and the constant wail of sirens. All this for football! rolleyes.gif

We are thru and that is be all and end all. Who cares about performance as the cup does that to teams, are Exceter as good as united cos they drew at OT? Course not bring on the Leicester!

Your interbred, ya Burnley scum rover.gif

What a well balanced post- good stuff

biggest crowd scumwood has had this season tongue.gif

Really?

It was 28,691 against Burnley, yet it was 29,271 for when Newcastle came down to Ewood on Boxing Day.

So it wasn't the biggest crowd of the season for when you came.

erm....you sold out against Burnley (so you say)....but not against the Geordies.....

Thanks for the hospitality Blackburn....a good days drinking in relaxed surroundings..... a free run around town....

Oh, congratulations on the result, its been an entertaining couple of weeks....... all the best in the next round wink.gif

Free run around town?

care to tell me when this happened?

As I have actual facts from people in the town. A good amount of Rovers fans were locked in the Sun pub by police. Burnley were escorted through the town (about 300) and then when they let Rovers out the pub they followed a good 500 yards behind.

All this talk of you 'run our town' is typical bullsh!t

hmmm touched a nerve did I....?

I don't really care too much for this anymore....but just for you.

Burnley were drinking in Blackburn and darwen from 2.00pm. various groups in various sizes. Light refreshment was enjoyed in Toll Bar, Beeches, a small group drank in the jubilee etc etc (some places did lock their doors when approached)..... 100 in the Depot, 50 in Darwen..... the Postal Order was off limits as this was HQ for those Naughty Blackburn chaps. They were surounded in their own town by plod laugh.gif

After the game....2 to 300 Burnley were put in an escort to go to the station....but 40 or so evaded capture and walked unhindered right into town, without any police. They actually bumped into 30 chaps, and as the two groups shaped up to trade harsh words....they recognised each other as all being from Burnley. They then strolled on to the Boulevard together....and not a soul was on the steets.

Some chaps in the escort further back did say that 20 Wovers "hardcases" did appear on the way to the station....but their show of bravado was quickly extinguished by the biggest firm on the night....Lancashire Constabulary

Gotta say, I think Blackburn's one of the friendliest places I have been to.....

Amazing biggrin.gif

"C'mon have it"

"oh wait we are wearing the same claret and blue shirt, for a second I thought that was the blue and white?" huh.gifwink.gif

How exactly do you lot manage these sort of things?

No wonder you trashed your own town last time, probably thought you were in Blackburn.

Same happened with Rovers fans. Just didnt want any ficticious stories flying around, you know, the type burnley fans are known for.

A good group of Rovers fans were locked in pubs, and also escorted to the ground.

Oh well its over, were all safe from the SS i guess, I did doubt it and took a spare set of underwear just in case.

Also, were your 'boys' wearing gloves? biggrin.gif

Fair doos, there was so much ob for both games nothing other than banter was going to hapen. It was the exact same at your place.

Although, the ob must have been really worried about the 600 or so rovers lads that came over on the train. It was 'delayed' in Blackburn station for 45mins conviently so we arived at Burnley Barracks just after kick off.

For the record we too were escorted to and from the ground unchallenged. It fact it was like marching through Chernobyl - Not a soul in sight apart from a few inbred mutants!

600 laugh.gif , I take it you were all riding shotgun on the roof like they do in India laugh.gif .....a little over a hundred´at best

PS, theres a big difference between, getting an escort round the outskirts of the centre nice and safe from those orrible mutant locals, and drinking in the centre without Lancs constab in tow....

Dan, you said "A good group of Rovers fans were locked in pubs, and also escorted to the ground.".... getting escorted in your own town laugh.gif

PS, the way you lot are getting wound up by being called a nice friendly place, suggests to me you don't like that.....hmmmmm......I await more from the, ...."I dont condone violence BUT brigade....."

PS Disko....good first posts eh.....which regular are you then.....? biggrin.gif

Burnley lads are all puff and wind, and only tough if they are in a big gang or you should say more of them than you. We've all seen through the decades the myths about the Dingles lard lads, full of mouth, underdeveloped boxers.

Did you enjoy Dingles your toilet bashing session in the Darwen end!

C'mon guys, this tit-for-tat stuff is so boring, what is the point of it? Sad point-scoring, the match is over already!

Burnley lost, Rovers won; that's all there is to it. smile.gif

Nothing is going to come from "Your lot are vandals"; "Yeah, but so are yours"; "But our crowd was noisier"; "We couldn't hear it because our lot were noisiest"; how juvenile. We'll end up with a dozen pages of bilge at this rate ...

But CLB can carry on posting as he makes me laff! laugh.gif

Can't understand all this bragging about a teams hooligan element. I take great pride from the fact that Rovers are a family club, whose supporters have an excellent reputation when travelling away from home.

It is a shame that Burnley fans feel they have to brag about their hooligan element to make up for the fact that they can't beat us wink.gif

For all the arguments about best support club :-

Burnely Attendance - 21,468 of which 4k were Rovers = 17,468 Burnley fans

Rovers Attendance - 28,691 of which 7k were Burnely = 21,691 Rovers

Nuff said wink.gif

Its nice reading LET tonight, Burnley grasping onto the only hope they have of 'we are closing the gap'

Utter dross, we were awful, if we were actually playing well the 'gap' would be still as big.

Oh well they can remember their 5 minutes they got to jump around like lunatics for many years to come

No Nay Never indeed

....still proud of the Riverside last night!  cool.gif

i may well consider going in there for the Leicester game.

tinykit.gif

We discussed the same last night. Got potential to be a good area to sit (or stand in last nights case) in the section towards the Darwen End.

i was sat there, right next to the Darwin end, and except from the fifteen minutes at the beginning of the second half when the whole ground went quiet, i was on my feet singing from start to finish- quality atmosphere.

Something tells me it will be a bit different against leicester though sad.gif

Was like an away match in there last night.

You're probably right though, against Leicester it'll probably be crap. If away teams were given the Riverside portion of the Darwen end every game then It'd be a good place for banter though.

Full marks to the stewards again though, anyone wishing to stand was ushered to our section to sing their hearts out for the lads.

You get a mention in the fans section of LET tonight blink.gif
