After the game Mark Hughes praised Jon Stead and is quoted as saying.

"Jon's worked very hard with little reward and he's done very well to come on and score.

"I was delighted. When you come to Everton you know it's going to be a physical challenge and every one of my players stood up to it.

"There was a little bit of extra pressure because of other results but we were worthy winners."
