As for biddy's information, there is one railway but two companies. It could be they are reducing the lines to one track and they have kicked Arriva into the Bristol Channel or it could be the colon is excreting and the sphincter is closed.

True enough about the line out of Bristol to Cardiff but it all depends on where on the line any possible work may be.

This Map from the same site shows all the links between Bristol and Cardiff. So the work could potentially be between Temple Meads and Filton Abbey Wood which would only shut the line for Arriva.

Either way, Just looked and Bristol Parkway is actually nearly 7 miles out of the center to it may be easier hiring a mini-bus or just driving.

I have two rooms booked for the friday night, at premier inn's Cardiff Ocean Park. (Around 1 1/2 mile from centre) 2 double rooms. We have now decided we are going to go down on the day, so anybody want these rooms? Thinks its something like £105 for both rooms? PM me if your interested

Just phoned up National Rail enquiries and the train is running from Temple meads to Newport then a bus to Cardiff. The other option is getting the train from Temple to Parkway which only takes 10 minutes

National Rail Eqnuiries are clueless.

The train is not running at all from Bristol Westwards.

There is a bus replacement service from Bristol stations to Newport, then train in. Its likely to add at least 40mins to the journey. Not to mention the fact that there will be hundreds of people wanting to get on a bus that seats 50

but I thought the train was running fine from Newport?

Just had an interesting chat with a guy at National Rail Enquiries. Basically they have conflicting information in their database.

There are no trains running between Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway. That is confirmed and will be replaced by a bus to Newport.

The conflicting part is that they still have information from First Great Western saying that all their trains are running from Bristol Parkway to Cradiff. However, the engineering work is actually just outside Bristol Parkway (east side) so that says there are no trains stopping between Swindon and Bristol Parkway. So this means the fast tracks are open and they are doing work on the slow tracks.

So I now need to ring First Great Western and find out how they are going to run a full service from Bristol Parkway if they are not stopping there.

The guy was a Newcastle fan btw and a very nice chap too. I wished him luck and he said he would wish me luck but wants Blackburn to win! (he thought I was an Arsenal fan as I asked about trains from Paddington).

This is on the First Great Western Website:

Monday to Friday 11 to 15 April 2005.

Engineering work will be taking place between Bristol Parkway and Severn Tunnel Junction 00.01 Mon to 23.59 Fri Please click here for details.

Hourly London Paddington TO Swansea/West Wales services will be retimed (starting EARLIER) and be diverted via an alternative route, NOT calling at Bristol Parkway. Some will call additionally at Kemble, Stroud, Stonehouse and Gloucester in lieu of Wessex Trains services. Road transport will operate FROM Bristol Parkway TO Newport connecting into the diverted trains. NB. Swansea TO London Paddington services will be largely unaffected. Most hourly London Paddington to/from Cardiff Central services will be retimed and be diverted to or start from Bristol Temple Meads. Some will start from or terminate at Bristol Parkway.

07.03 Bristol Temple Meads to Swansea will start from Newport with connecting road transport from Bristol Temple Meads

and Bristol Parkway.

Doesn't say anything about the 16th

Im still waiting for my promised call backs from both companies.

Our clubs do seem pretty sure though, its on both clubs website.

Shame our national rail network and companies couldnt organise a ###### up in a brewery.
