Grabbi Graeme Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 SSN reports that Owen has also had talks with Liverpool as well, and given the choice I cant see Owen turning down Liverpool and champions league for Newcastle with no europe football and a season fight to get in the top half of table.

thenodrog Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 If Owen knocks em back it could be the final nail in Souness's coffin.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Let's see if Souness can get a team with Parker, Shearer and Owen in it relegated.
Tango Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 That brings Souness' spending to a whopping £44m in under a year
promoted2001 Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Wow thats one heck of a coup for souness! A bit of a fall from grace for owen though!
Scotty Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Fantastic signing for Newcastle and very bad news for us given that we face them soon.
John Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Must have been Dean Saunders presence at talks yesterday that swung it for him. Souness always was a persuasive force when it came to transfers.
Presty On Tour Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 owen hasn't signed on the dotted line yet though has he??
G Somerset Rover Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 As Scotty just said this is very bad news with us to face them soon. Notlob away (always a bleddy hard game) and an Owen inspired Newcastle doesn't sound good. I saw some stats the other day and hes only banged in more against one other club during his time with the scousers.
Wolverine Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 It would appear he has, subject to medical... Owen a geordie...
Bobby G Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Big boost for them, but I see their problems to be more than just something you can solve by throwing money to get in 2 strikers. Big big fall from grace for Owen though. Im sure Liverpools offer was not acceptable or they really didnt want him. It was a choice between Newcastle or being outcast at Real. Im almost certain he will have some sort of clause in his deal and his heart really isnt in this move!
krislu Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 With the current group of players Newcastle should really be aming at a Champions League spot this season, I wouldn't be suprised if Souness might have just dug his own grave signing Owen. If they don't get some good results in their coming three matches, then Souness is history..
Bobby G Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 I would love it if we bury the hatchet with Souey at Ewood on the 18th with Bellamy hitting the nail on the coffin of Newcastle. Oh how sweet would that be... Its about time, we beat them again I think.

Oh how sweet would that be... With Newcastle not having scored or won away it's in the stars they will get their first goals and victory with of course Michael Owen smashing home the winner. Or perhaps an Owen hat trick.
Seggie Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 The Geordies have a good sense of humour still at least
Exiled in Toronto Posted August 30, 2005 Posted August 30, 2005 Maybe Owen will keep him in the job a while longer. But the thought of Deano coaching Owen brings a smile....
Jan Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Much the same thought occurred to me about Deano and Shearer.
Grabbi Graeme Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Owen is a class player , but Souey will soon change that also on the day they make a big signing they then sell Jenas to Spurs.
92er Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 The signing must lower the odds they will score against us and maybe get their first win.
SuperStella Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 I see the best fans in the world have turned up to welcome their new hero. Pity that many did'nt turn up to watch the f**kers play in the early nineties......
roversWASmylife Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 You lot were chanting his name yesterday. Few games ago, you were wanting him out. Strange.
paddyk Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 naa the board have been at the brunt of the unrest, but fatfred has pulled it out the hat this time, 95% of toon fans want souness to stay, its just the media manage to find the 5%
