Bobby G Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Glenn Roeder... Haha the nasty school principal... Alan Shearer in charge seems interesting. Also, yes the next full time boss will have a great squad to choose from overall. Although I dont think Mickey O will stick around and I cant see Shearer playing on next season.
Moppy Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 (edited) Although I dont think Mickey O will stick around381057 I guess that depends on how much his relegation release clause is . Anyone else think Sven could take over after the WC. After Owen pesters him persistantly saying he owes him for saying he dont want to be there. Edited February 2, 2006 by Moppy
ihtd Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 I hope he gives the job to Shearer, he would make a good manager, but maybe it is a bit too early for him to do it. Saying that though didn't Sparky leave us as a player to become the Wales manager? Shearer would need a good back-room team full of experience though to make a go of it. One thing for sure, the fans would never turn their backs on him.
SouthAussieRover Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Apart from winning the lottery this day couldn't get any better
American Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 I hope you lot aren't this happy if our current manager ever has a poor run and moves on with the same results. Nice to see the gratitude for bringing us to heights unexpected at the time he took over.
philipl Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 You can see it now- first game as player-coach, Shearer scores to break wor Jackie's record and the Geordies believe they're going to win the World Cup come Saturday 5pm. 'arry won't be pleased he's taking pompey up there to be the sacrificial lambs. Just looked at their fixtures- FF had to act as they have a run of winnable games now with a horror story end of season mix of top 5 clubs and local derbies.
Guest Kamy100 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 This could have an affect on us. I know one of the Charlton directors very well and he has a very high opinion of Mark Bowen, so IF Newcastle get Curbishley then I would bet that Charlton come after Bowen.
FourLaneBlue Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Not only has Souness gone (with millions in compensation) but Shepherd stays! Good old Newcastle eh...always good for a laugh. Roeder in charge too!!!!!!!!!

I'd be more concerned about Curbishley getting fired by Charlton or getting the England job (same thing in a way).
Bobby G Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Thanks for spoiling a perfect day with thoughts of what ifs. Hopefully someone like Steve Bruce could follow in for Newcastle and pick up where Souey left or Big Sam, then Bolton can fall apart too...
SouthAussieRover Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 I hope you lot aren't this happy if our current manager ever has a poor run and moves on with the same results. Nice to see the gratitude for bringing us to heights unexpected at the time he took over. 381065 But he was the Newcastle manager after he decided to join and his words: After the defeat at Eastlands Souness admitted he was feeling the pressure due to the "passionate" support Newcastle receive. "It's common knowledge in football that the supporters up here love their football club and it means so much to them. They are madly, madly passionate for their football club," said the Scot. "That makes it so attractive, but when you are not winning games, that can mean there's a big downside to it as well, and you have to accept that. "But it's a special place to be involved in the football at Newcastle. I think there are only two or three other clubs in the country where that passion exists." Newcastle and it's fanatical fans are overated in so many ways. Like Souness, the fans will go missing when the times are tough. I just wish FS would (Please don't use that word again) off now.
ianb Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Am I the only one who thinks F.Shepherd's record in charge is appalling and that his job should be transfered to India on cost cutting grounds? A stark contrast to the Rover's Board management.
thenodrog Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 The war of attrition is over. Once the writing was on the wall GS recognised it and has appeared to engineer his own leaving terms by doing all in his power to drop the mags so deep in the ###### that he would get a full pay out. I must say the nincompoop chairman has been suckered big time..... again and with him there hope springs eternal that the mags will always be crying on the tele! I dont like it cos a managerial merry go-round is not something we want right now. If he had been potted 3 months ago Hughes stock was far less appealing.
thenodrog Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Just as an aside I couldn't believe how old and drawn BOTH Souness and Pearce both looked last night.
pleasure Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 penny for your thoughts mr bellamy! cant see souey being too bothered.... 5mil will cushion the blow!
Eddie Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 I don't think this is great for us, he was doing a poor job and that was wonderful. This season they are too far behind us to catch us really, but it was nice if things had stayed how they are and we wouldn't have to worry.
OscarRaven Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Just as an aside I couldn't believe how old and drawn BOTH Souness and Pearce both looked last night. 381084 What a 24 hours! Well personally I'm disappointed its over for Souness he could have done some real damage up there! Still what goes around..... comes around...... we benefited enormously from his departure and although things went bad for him in the end here... lets not forget those days in Cardiff and at Deepdale.
