Steve_Cercle Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 (edited) Good day Blackburn fans, I am Steve, a fan of Cercle Bruges. I am sure that the majority of you are aware of an almost allegiance at the moment between my own fantastic football club, and yours, Blackburn Rovers. Both Watt and Weaver were actually sent here in Belgium for the first half of the year and now Sergio Peter even tries to be in the A-team!! He has been blocked more recently with a small injury, but he certainly has the talent to break through. Enough chit chat, Cercle Bruges and Blacburn Rovers intend to have some friendlies come the summer pre season, as well as use your complex I presume. Our supporters federation of course has seen this a great opportunity to organise a trip to England. The weekend of 9-10-11 July we plan to travel over from Belgium. Of course we need a place to sleep, eat, shower etc… So we are searching addresses of camping’s, youth hostels, hotels, bars, place to see, you name it we want to visit it We are also interested in playing a friendly game between the supporters of Blackburn and ourselves, and maybe organise a big BBQ together or something.. Whatever you guys possibly have to offer me, whether it is knowledge on places to visit and things to see, or perhaps the more helpful, places to stay, I would be deeply thankful. I am asking on here, because I have heard such good things about Blackburn Rover’s football club, and I know you would possibly help a foreigner out If you can help us please contact Richard.doeven@pandora.be or add him on msn: richarddoeven@hotmail.com. ( He doesn't read this forum ) Regards, Long live Cercle and Blackburn! Steve Edited April 22, 2005 by Steve_Cercle

Steve_Cercle Posted April 22, 2005 Author Posted April 22, 2005 While i am here... a picture of Sergio Peter who played the last minutes in our last game: He had some minor injuries but he's definitely a player with potential who could break through in our A-team. Our left winger moves back to his homecountry and we are quite short there so let's hope we can give him more chances next season
Ricky Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 Welcome to the MB Steve. In the past we have had a very succesful relationship with fans from Genclerbirligi from Turkey, who we played in a UEFA cup tie. We arranged to play a friendly game at Brockhall (Blackburns training ground) and had a fantastic evening with them. I'm sure the people who arranged that would be more than happy to arrange something similar, especially if it results in a return visit to Belgium. I'm sure they will post on here in time, but to start with there is a starlodge opposite ewood park called the fernhurst which is about £45 a night for a twin/double room.
BRFCHolland Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 (edited) Last year there were also some rumours that Rovers would play a friendly in Bruges. Does anyone know if that would happen this year ? Would be great to see Blackburn Rovers playing close to my home. Last time was at a friendly tournament in Arnhem (1996) together with Vitesse and Sevilla. Edited April 23, 2005 by BRFCHolland
Steve_Cercle Posted April 24, 2005 Author Posted April 24, 2005 Last year there were also some rumours that Rovers would play a friendly in Bruges. Does anyone know if that would happen this year ? Yeah normally Blackburn comes to Bruges to use the facilities and play against Cercle Bruges. Last time we had as " galamatch " Ominia Nicosia " from Cyprus so a big improvement if the rumours are true
Glenn Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Steve, As soon as you get a date (which will undoubtedly be before Rovers let us know) let us know (either by posting here or by email admin@brfcs.com) and I'm sure we can organise something.
Glenn Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Somebody has just posted a date of 31st of July to the mailing list. Can anyone confirm this date and confirm is at Ewood or in Belgium ?

Can anyone confirm this date and confirm is at Ewood or in Belgium ? That's the date for our player introduction so it is in Belgium @ Glenn: I gave your e-mail to the person that is organising the whole trip. Edited April 27, 2005 by Steve_Cercle
sausagemandog Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 So are Rovers playing in brugge 31st July ?
Jordan Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 (edited) So are Rovers playing in brugge 31st July ? Anyone going to answer the mans question? Edited May 5, 2005 by Jordan
Lee Posted May 5, 2005 Posted May 5, 2005 People in Belgium tend to be a little quick off the mark. I'm certainly not aware of a game in Belgium on that date, from what I've heard there's probably a game over here the day before (saturday) which would certainly cast some doubt over a game the following day in Belgium But you never know it is still early days and plans can always change as invites to play come into the club.
Manchester Blue Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 According to a Swansea fans site we are playing them on the 30th but one poster suggested we would be taking a mostly reserve side which may indicate we could be playing in Belgium the next day. Also playing Huddersfield on the 27th apparently.
Manchester Blue Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 Huddersfield not happening now. They have changed and are playing Wigan on the 27th. No space left so we will not be going there. Still nothing more concrete on the Swansea game.
Jordan Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 I understand Rovers are going to Germany again and whilst they are in Germany traveling to Belgium and playing Brugge.
Ste B Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 Huddersfield not happening now. They have changed and are playing Wigan on the 27th. No space left so we will not be going there. Still nothing more concrete on the Swansea game. That fits in with the rumours I've heard of the team being away in Germany the 18th - 28th July. We are playing in Circle Bruges, but i'm told thats the youth/reserves, not the first team. I've heard talk of 1860 Munich being one of the games, but I've seen that German clubs play preseason home games away from their usual home. It could have course all be complete rubbish as things will change from one day to the next, so dont plan any dates yet.
Steve_Cercle Posted May 19, 2005 Author Posted May 19, 2005 Hello dear Blackburn fans, The world wide cercle fans ( wwcf ) are coming to Blackburn with a good 20 men. Manchester Blue Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 Morecambe away on the 16th July has apparently been confirmed on their site. It also states that we are committed to taking a first team squad.
Glenn Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 .... however the local press has made similar claims in previous years and it's always been a "second" team. Still, if the semi-drunken chatter at the testimonal is anything to go by, I think a bunch of us may be going up for a days beer around Morecambe (actually, I suggest pre-game in Morecambe and post-game in Lancaster).
Parasyte Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 http://www.cambridge-united.premiumtv.co.u...~667178,00.html A stganding agreement to play Cambridge is apparently there. I hope its at the Abbey. I missed the last match between the two due severe vomiting, so this would hopefully be a great game. Unless its at Ewood, in which case I'll be damned if I'm going.
AggyBlue Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 I missed the last match between the two due severe vomiting The ale in Cambridge did me once
Parasyte Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 It was actually a bad birthday party with a few too many bowls of jelly and ice-cream... bearing in mind I was about 8.
Jordan Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 I am not able to read what it says, are you able to tell me what it says
Manchester Blue Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 It just mentions that there is a long standing agreement to play us but as it also mentions that there is the same thing with Everton but it has not been possible to slot in then I would say it will almost certainly not be this pre-season.
Parasyte Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 But why mention it? The Everton friendly came about after the sale of John Ruddy in January... the last player to have any link with Rovers I remember was Fred Murray, and that was so long ago he's sicne left the U's anyway.
