When they consider that they got out alive last night, albeit possibly fearing for their lives as their police van was battered almost into submission by the baying hordes outside.

A 100-strong mob unleashed a war cry that doubled as a call to arms. Word spread so quickly that, by the time the van emerged a minute later, its path was blocked by as many as 400 protesters, summoned from all corners of the ground and none of them needing instructions to make their feelings known.

The scenes were ugly in the extreme, but, with riot police out in force, the situation did not escalate completely out of control. There were truncheons raised and some protesters were flung out of the way as they tried to stage a sit-down protest in front of the van, but the heavy police presence — made even more intimidating by the incessant barking of some ferocious-looking dogs

Among the more traditional chants such as “We shall not be moved” were some that carried a sinister edge : “How we’ll kill him we don’t know, cut him up from head to toe, all we know is Glazer’s gonna die”.

Went to the cricket last night at OT - good game - and drove up Warwick Road towards OT about 8.15pm to find the road down to the ground closed off by one policewoman. As far as I could see there was a small group of fans and a few policeman. Quite prepared to be wrong but what I was able to see from the top end of Warwick Road didn't look like a major protest.

Just saw it on ITV news! 400fans, and they started to throw objects at the police van carrying the glazers out and thats when police moved in to stop them.

The manc fans said "if they had of come out and talked to us this wouldn't of happened" what a load of rubbish!

Well I'm sure that council tax payers in Manchester are delighted to know Phil that their money is being spent on ferrying around the disgraced Glazer family in a special police escort.

At the same time, Greater Manchester police have got the worst record in the country for tackling burglary crime among the 43 police forces in England and Wales.

A report last year said of Greater Manchester police: "The detection rates for key crime categories remain low. The force has the worst record in the country at solving burglaries, with uniformed officers lacking basic investigating skills. Just 7.5 per cent of burglaries in the area were solved by police."

But while Greater Manchester Police are clearly too busy to be bothered solving 92.5% of burglaries - the worst record in the country - isn't it nice to know they are happy to act as chauffeur drivers for a loathed and discredited American family....

I was deeply disturbed watching the antics of the police on the ITV News. I saw what looked to be a peaceful protestor, a man in his 30's with no weapon in his hand and not acting aggressively, being dragged away by the throat by a thuggish-looking policeman who resembled a nightclub bouncer looking for a punch-up.

For sure, there were probably a few idiots among the protesters, throwing bottles and acting like yobs, but I was appalled to see that knuckle-headed aggressive policeman acting like a thug towards what seemed to be a peaceful protester.

I wonder if this is going to be a regular occurrence at OT in the future. Whenever the Glazers decide to drop by for a glass of champagne and prawn sandwiches at Old Trafford, Mr PC Plod and his friends will drop everything at the station to act as chauffeur drivers for this repulsive family....

I never thought I would be sympathising towards Red Scum fans - but they are fully entitled to protest against the Glazer family if they wish. The real thugs on Wednesday night seemed to be the police who were dragging people away by the throat, and allowing alsatian dogs to intimidate peaceful protesters.

Greater Manchester Police can't be bothered to solve over 90% of their burglaries, but they are on hand to offer assistance and a special taxi service for a bunch of rich Jewish-American businessmen.

Clearly the police force have got their priorites right then....

Glazers as described by an American journalist. Not necessarilly true but according to that piece, the Glazers are well-capable of telling lies.

If they convinced everybody they would stump up half the cost of the new Tampa Stadium then didn't, what are their assurances on TV revenues worth?

I noticed they squeezed 10,000 fans out of the Tampa stadium to make way for more corporate seats. No doubt they will try that trick on the Mancs.

What I love about this are the Man Utd fans with their 'Not for Sale' signs, spouting off about how the whole is issue is 'bad for football'.

Firstly a company, even a medium sized one like Man Utd is perminently for sale when they are publicly listed. The shares can be bought and sold freely. Secondly, why is it bad if one of the G14 members goes under, as they fear ?. It is the G14 clubs, like Madrid City Council FC and Man Utd that have ruined football, and if as many of them get brought down a peg or two then football is better off. And finally, what makes them think football will collapse if they suffer a downturn in their finances and/or form ?.

The Guardian is no fan of the Glazers and I also find it hard to believe Phil Neville was on £100K a week at OT.

So I am not sure whether Ferguson has been told to cut the Man U wage bill.

However, unless the Glazers have something positive hidden away, slashing the operating costs of Man U (even Man U pay comfortably over 50% of turnover in wages) is the first and most obvious thing they have to do to service the massive charges and fees on their debt burden.
