The renewal costs on the internet are £3 processing fee and £2 postage for the whole transaction regardless of the number of tickets. I think this is very reasonable and comparable with other online ticket purchases - Tickmaster is £4.95.

Having said that I have been unable to renew on-line and having got ready to do it this morning am pretty fed up. Today is the first time I'd had any enthusiasm for renewing the STs and the system keeps rejecting my credit and bank cards. I have used both of these many, many times to buy tickets, my credit card is paid off every month and bank account is OK. I have been unable to make the purchase as the site refuses ALL my cards.

Does anyone know what a CV2 number is? I presume it's what the rest of the world calls the Security number on the back of the card?

Why is the facility withdrawn on the 27th June? Presumably it's the "claim your seat" deadline?

That looks lower than when I looked into it, so I stand corrected. Still cheaper to pay cash. The £5 charge for paying by switch annoyed me as well! On principle I disappeared off to find the nearest free cash machine on friday. Why could I spend £70 in the shop for no charge, yet get charged a fiver for the pleasure of spending over £400? The charge to the retailer was exactly the same.

Isnt the claim your own seat deadline the 25th?

The CV2 number is the 3 digit part of the security number on the back (the first, 4 digit part is the last 4 digits of your card number).

One thing to look for, I don't know which online merchant services Rovers are using (I've never had reason to look), but several will reject cards if you insert spaces between the numbers (as shown on your card).

An internet booking fee as a whole makes sense, I'd imagine that Rovers don't have the infrastructure to do their own authorizations, so instead will use an online merchant, who in turn take a cut of every transaction (around 4% is normal). Plus there is still the postage to cover.

The booking-with-switch-fee is because the club gets charged it and passes the charge onto you. If you look at the tills of big high street stores they now have notices stating that you are being charged this fee for switch, but they give you the exact same amount as a discount and don't bother showing it on the reciept. (i.e. the fiddle the numbers to keep it simple, although they make less money on swicth transactions). Genuine "credit" cards have a similar (but different) charge.

Finally, a question, does anyone know if renewing ST holder get to keep their existing cards or will we be getting new ones ? From a technology point of view it makes sense to keep the existing ones, plus it'd save a fiver or so a head.

I'm guessing we'll get new ones. The club can't bank on everyone having kept last seasons, and haven't asked on renewal if we still have it. Bit of an oversight.

Switch is a single charge the retailer of around 25p, depending on volume of course.

The notices in shops are a bit of a scam. They set up a card handling subsidiary who they give 2.5% of your total shopping bill to if you pay by card.

This means they dont have to pay VAT on that 2.5% of your bill. Not much per customer (average weekly shop of £100 they would save around 50p, but multiply that by the millions of customers every day....)

My point is that on a small volume transaction there is no charge, in fact most retailers dont make a charge for this. I would be interested in the justification. Makes more sense with credit cards as that is a percentage of the transaction, but debit is a single fee.

Is traffic bad round Ewood?  I mean worse than any other ground?

I get the 10 miles from Leyland every matchday in around 15 minutes to my parking spot on the Livesey Branch.  I dont think thats bad.  Course there is gonna be traffic, look at Old Trafford, dual carraigeways every way away from the ground yet its hundreds of timnes worse that Ewood (and yes I know there is more people)

323639[/snapback]

Exactly i've been to over two thirds of the grounds in football league, and ewood as got one of the most parking facilities there is. What do people want to do park outside the ground and get a police escort as soon as they want! Get realistic withstupid.gif

How do you know what other clubs are like for parking, you dont drive huh.gif

Thats odd. Apart from the result of course I really enjoyed that game! That was the most open end to end game that we have seen all season and after our mainly defensive performances since MH realised just how poor we were it was like a breath of fresh air. Dont forget Fulham absolutely tonked Norwich the week after.

btw If any verification was necessary that Sparky's decision to off-load Stead was the right one that game was it. Given a proper striker its fair to say that we could have won that game 6-3.

Me and the woman went down and renewed on saturday. There was a queue of around 30 people at all times i was there.

Around 90% were their for Season Ticket's.

In my time in the queue i found out that out of the people infront of me at least 8 were new season ticket holders. I also know a few extra people who are getting a Season Ticket this year for the 1st time.

I think that if Rovers could pull off 2 bold signings. A big name striker like Bellamy, McCarthy or Alan Smith

And a big name midfielder who still has a couple of years left like Bowyer, Butt or even bring back Dunn.

I think rovers need to budget for ending the season in 17th, then if we get to Christmas and we are in the top 10, then we need to look at improving the squad further to establish our top 10 finish.

Bolton have a youth cup every season at the Reebock and not at the academy for all the local mosques. There was a massive turn out of youth players + parents + fans. This is the 3rd year and it is growing every year.Blackburn has more mosques -35-40- and is a good way of "introducing" the club to the Asian kids.In Bolton each kid is given a plastic medal with BWFC on it and a certificate with BWFC details on it.

The local Lancashire council of Mosques should be involved seeing Jack Straw is very close to them.

Come on Mr Williams get your finger out or change the People around you.

Whilst I'm sure season ticket sales are going to go down again this year, I bumpred into SteB on Friday when we were buying the new away shirt and we'd both noticed how there was a bit of a queue at the TO for season tickets. The signing of a 'name' that means a lot to the casual fan could really do the trick at this moment in time.

So let me get this right...you want Rovers to go out and get the likes of (say) Bellamy, Alan Smith AND Nicky Butt while simultaneously budgetting to finish in 17th place?

What for their next trick? Fitting square pegs into round holes?

If we get the likes of those into the club with their huge wages then we'd most likely need to finish at least in a European spot.

I tried to renew on-line yesterday but the system didn't recognise me as a season ticket holder.  Guess I'll have to fill in the form.

I've sorted it now. They had me registered with an old e-mail address, even though I've re-registered with my current one at least twice.

I had forgotten about the deadlines until my Dad rang and reminded me last night. Anyway I rang up today as I couldn't renew online and I wanted to do it by direct debit. They were cool and said don't worry about missing the deadline just send it in this week and it will go through fine.

I know they get a lot of stick at times, from me included, however they are excellent at times. A lot of fans at other clubs are amazed we even get the direct debit option. They really do help out as much as they can at times.

Renewal of seats deadline is this weekend, so out of interest / market research Ive added a poll to see how many on here will not be renewing.

Whilst I appreciate that members here, (excluding exiled rovers who due to geography cant attend) are die hard supporters who will be renewing, it will be interesting to see what per centage arent renewing, if any, or propose to move to cheaper areas of the ground.

Applyed for my first ever season ticket. I've never got one in the past due to Uni and travelling etc. Then I just paid on the door, as all my mates were sat in different areas of the BBurn end, amd playing football I missed all the monday games. This year they are relocating and are all sitting together so I decided to get one. They have moved from the BBurn end to the Jack Walker for the £250 tickets as a couple of lads have just moved house and had a first child so were struggling to afford so rather than not bother they went for the cheaper option.

Taking Exiled members out of the equation, if the per centage figures indicated in the poll, it looks as if season ticket sales will be down by 10%.

Renewing my season ticket. [ 24 ] [80%]

Renewing season ticket but moving to cheaper seats. [ 1 ] [3%]

Not renewing my season ticket. [ 3 ] [10%]

Buying my first season ticket. [ 2 ] [7%]

Total number of votes to date(excluding exiled members) [30]

If these figure are a sign of the overall fan base then it's no wonder that Rovers are reluctant to spend big in the transfer market.

Sorry to be picky Alan but it doesn't indicate that, you're ignoring the 2 that are new members. Basically if those figures were total sales then we would have sold 28 last year but 27 this time around. A drop of around 3%. My point is that whilst I expect some to not renew i'm pleased to read quite a few comments from people saying they are getting new tickets so maybe the drop won't be as bad as feared.

Or you could suggest that this is 10% from the fans who care enough to get involved with their club and talk about what's happeneing. If you take into account the more 'casual' supporter, this figure could be even higher.
