Alan75 Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 Rovers began the summer clear-out by releasing defenders Craig Short, Nils-Eric Johansson and John Fitzgerald. Leeds, Sheffield United and Perth, W. Australia have shown interest in acquiring the services of Short. Bury have offered John Fitzgerald a contract following successful loan spells at Gigg Lane. The transfer of Micheal Gray to Leeds has fallen through. Jonathan Stead could join Sunderland next week after the two clubs agreed a fee. Midfielder Tugay has signed a 12-month contract extension to keep him at Ewood Park, after Rovers exercised their right to offer him another year. 19 year old striker Matt Derbyshire has been given a new two-year contract. Rovers are to launch the new away kit next Monday 6th June, Rumours of a new sponsor yet unknown, vary from Orange to Pukka Pies. Link - New Kit Brett Emerton and Lucas Neill are to get an extra two weeks off before reporting back for pre-season. As they are involved with Australia in the FIFA Confederations Cup, which doesn't finish until June 29 - a week before Rovers start pre-season training.
