Manchester Blue Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Just giving as good as they get really and standing up to the comments by McGrath amongst others. They have said they will refuse to be bullied so are just following that through. Great article here from yesterday's Times so apologies if the Aussies can't read it but I though it summed it up for me. Even the Aussie at work couldn't disagree with it.

Shaddy Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 (edited) I'm going to save up my 1000th post to congratulate England on winning. 333784[/snapback] Damn! No-one picked up on the fact that that post *was* my 1000th. Was going to counter any corrections with "well, I can't remake my 1000th, so England can't win then"... poor attempt at humour. I am very nervous at the moment... an excited nervousness. I want to thank my fellow British board members for funding my streaming audio via BBC. Hope you've paid the rent, and it doesn't cut out too much over this month. Australia just won the toss and are going to bat first. I was hoping they'ed bowl, but looks like the commentators agree it is the right choice. We'll see... Edited July 21, 2005 by Shaddy
philipl Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 If England make a good start at Lords, it will be a competitive match which the Aussies will shade. If Australia makie a good start, England will have one good session but will otherwise be humiliated.
grizfoot Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Harmison is bowling bouncers nearly ever bowl Ponting just got one on the side of the head, ouch! Current Score: 49-1
SuperStella Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 we have a chance if: 1.) strauss gets his eye in and 2.) pietersen and flintoff remember its not a 1 day slog
Roaming Rover Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Just as i'm reading a quote from ponting, saying Englands Ashes dreams will be over in the first hour, we get another........92 for 5. Maybe Ponting just got the teams wrong
Rovers_4_life Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 What a start!!! We need to get Gilchrist early after lunch though.
Scotty Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 97-5 at lunch!!!! Must not gloat too early.... Must not gloat too early....
cn_barlow Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 after watching the first session there no doubt this is gonna be a fantastic series....sort of glad i'm unemployed now...at least i get to watch all of the cricket!!
bellamy11 Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 The dangerman is gone. We're into the bowlers now. Warne and Lee can bat a bit and Gillespie is no mug either so England need to press on and take these last 4 wickets quickly.
bellamy11 Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Harmison outstanding. 5-43. Australia all out for 190. Now time to concentrate with the bat and not let McGrath and Lee peg us back to a similar score.
Roaming Rover Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 183 for 9 - Almost there, i bet Walkabout is a fun pub to be in right now
