Shaddy Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Didn't really make a post-win post, so here it is. Obviously was elated with the result. Any hope of saving the game most probably went on day three, when Australia made it to lunch with one wicket in hand. I thought the English bowlers were pretty good, and if the batsmen had done their job, and the fielders taken their catches, the bowlers would have at least kept the target within reach. So, if the batsmen get it together, then England are not out of this by any stretch of the imagination. I hope not though!
blue phil Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 My tickets for the Old Trafford test arrived today - unexpectedly . Hope the boys have improved by then ....
modes98 Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Jones 16 tests Gilchrist 69 tests 335541 and gilchrist is older so it's to be expected!

modes98 Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Aye but in Jones' case you'll never be able to polish a turd 335707 The aussies seem to manage it! found a few diamonds in those turds though! The golden age, when all the old aussies finally call it a day! At least their losing alot more matches than they used to, the transitional period in world cricket. Look what happened to the west indies! To go back to the turd analagy, every dog has it's day! Will andy symonds be in attendance at his home ground on thursday?
neekoy Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 We only lose the ones that don't matter, the perfect mirror image of the English
FourLaneBlue Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 We only lose the ones that don't matter, the perfect mirror image of the English 335949 You lost 3-0 in Montevideo and 20-17 in Sydney. Different sports...but they mattered all the same...
neekoy Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 And we won 12-6 at Twickenham, 35-12 at Cadiff and 1-0 in Sydney all games that matter but noe that have anything to do with this current topic
pg Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 I'd gladly swap an Ashes series for a Football World Cup Qualification.
Shaddy Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 I'd gladly swap an Ashes series for a Football World Cup Qualification. 336133 Same here. And I don't expect it to happen within the next two world cups unfortunately...
philipl Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 Who are the Australians getting to replace Farrina? Its a long shot but properly coached, Australia have enough soccer talent to challenge the fifth best Latin Americans. As for the cricket, England have selected the same team and will get the same result.
dave birch Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 philip, Gus Hiddink has replaced Frank. Not so sure about the cricket, the Edgbaston track has been under prepared because of the weather. The toss will be an important one to win.
Timmy Posted August 2, 2005 Author Posted August 2, 2005 I can't see england putting collingwood in the squad and not picking him for the team on thursday
Shaddy Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 I can't see england putting collingwood in the squad and not picking him for the team on thursday 336156 Yep, I agree. He will be the one change to the team, and I reckon he could make a difference. Again... hope not!
Bijani Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 I'd gladly swap an Ashes series for a Football World Cup Qualification. 336133 Well we do have a few to bargain with , but seriously, football at the international level is one of the very few sports (not sure of our croquet world standing) Australia hasnt been a major player in, be it world champs or just plain dominators.
Timmy Posted August 2, 2005 Author Posted August 2, 2005 I'd gladly swap an Ashes series for a Football World Cup Qualification. 336133 getting in your excusses already?
Bijani Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 getting in your excusses already? 336234 What are you trying to say?? We will qualify for WC, but only because a freak of nature prevents us from KICKING YOUR ARSE and we lose the ashes. Or, the way of things will not change and we beat you again, but we dont qualify for WC??
pg Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 getting in your excusses already? 336234 As I stated earlier in this thread, I'm not getting worked up about the result. As long as the cricket is close and entertaining I don't really care who wins. Personally, I think its good for the game, and good for the Australian team to lose a series every now and then. It keeps them on their toes, and (hopefully) keeps them humble.
neekoy Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Lose a series by all means, just not to the English
Flopsy Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 What are you trying to say?? We will qualify for WC, but only because a freak of nature prevents us from KICKING YOUR ARSE and we lose the ashes. Or, the way of things will not change and we beat you again, but we dont qualify for WC?? 336349 By the sounds of it, if Freddie shouts Boo! loud enough all your team will be legging it to hide behind their mummies legs. wusses
Timmy Posted August 4, 2005 Author Posted August 4, 2005 mcgrath injured! 336601 out of the test! god must be english!
den Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 Australia won toss and will bowl. A dangerous time for England.
