T4E Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 Whatever teh result, they'll know they've been in a contest! But shame on teh ECB for the scheduling this Summer. 337015[/snapback] An English cricket fan if ever I've seen one. Things are going pretty damn well, and the post is still rounded off with a whinge! I won't criticise - very likely the voice of experience! Hopefully tomorrow Vaughan, Trescothick and Hoggard can take us through to lunch. If we make tea with 2 of Pietersen, Flintoff or Bell still in, we've got a real chance. We have to be looking at the match in sessions, getting to the end of each with the advantage still being on our side will see the series levelled come Monday evening. I'm feeling pretty confident now. Saturday is huge. C'mon England!!!

pg Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Terry Alderman!!! Those were the days How many more wickets could he have taken if he wasn't assaulted by a yobbo on the pitch. Bryan - we've heard down under the McGrath will miss the Old Trafford test but should be right to return after that. Warne's ball to Strauss was absolutely amazing, up there with his best. I let out a spontaneous yelp at 3:00 am.. couldn't help myself! England should still win the test though. Lee is consistently serving up half-volleys a foot outside off stump. Gillespie is non-threatening. Perhaps Michael Clarke to bowl some off-spin and repeat his heroics of the India tour?!?
SouthAussieRover Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Could well be an interesting morning. Warne vs the top order. England's failure to tour the subcontinent in nigh on 20 years could prove costly.
SouthAussieRover Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Hoggard c Hayden b Lee. What was that you were saying PG?
Flopsy Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Good bowling from lee - useless batting from Treco and Vaughan. Our only hope is that Bell gets a good score - or god help us Rob Key comes back next test
philipl Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 For my observation that 20-4 at stumps last night equals disaster looming, read 31-4 at eleven o'clock this morning. The Aussies will be really fancying this!
Aussie_Rover Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 I can't believe some English didn't think Pieterson he should play test cricket at the start of the series. IF IF we can get him out cheap, we will win
Manchester Blue Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 If, If, you can get him cheap you have a chance, no more. We already have a lead of 150 on a pitch that will get worse so don't forget that. Batting last on that pitch thanks to a poor call by punter will not be easy. At present it is very finely poised which is what we all want I suppose.
Flopsy Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 was that post before or after he hit 2 6's I feel that it should have been thorpe vs Bell not Thorpe vs Pieterson
Flopsy Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Pieterson's gone GREAT catch from Gilchrist (although doubtfull it was really out)
SouthAussieRover Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 (edited) Pietersen cGilchrist bWarne 5-72 Edited August 6, 2005 by SouthAussieRover
Manchester Blue Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 There is no doubt Flopsy, it was never out, though the first ball he faced was a bit lucky I suppose.
Flopsy Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 170 ish ahead I think 250 will be a defendable target looking at this pitch
Manchester Blue Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Possibly but 300 should be the minimum aim really.
SouthAussieRover Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Australia are notoriously poor at chasing low targets. Bell out 6-76
Flopsy Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 I wouldnt worry Ashley "Botham" Giles is to come next
Manchester Blue Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Bleeding hell talk about bad luck, Bell was never out either and now Freddie is injured.
adopted scouser Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Can't believe I'm actually watching this, closing at lunch 95 for 6. I now realise where you Aussies get your 'manly' reputation. That fat bowler with bleached hair, earrings and the need for sunblock on his nose in tropical Birmingham. The english look quite dignified in comparison.
Manchester Blue Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Did Gilchrist play that child at the end of film Shane? I don't think I can cope with another over of his whiny little voice crying Shane, Shane, Shane!
