SAS Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 he was delighted with that and milked it to the full
Flopsy Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Austrailia need to score somewhere in the region of 4.3/4.4 an over from now so every over played by England means the run rate will go up and up and up - I am still sure the aussies are going to be damn close to doing it
SouthAussieRover Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Nice one Lee Am I allowed to jump on the bandwagon and bask in Englands glory
PABBY Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Relax Flopsy - the Convicts aren't even going to have a bat today!
Lee Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Nice one Lee Am I allowed to jump on the bandwagon and bask in Englands glory 346417 You certainly can, come back to the dark side!
den Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Agreed SAR. This is an Ashes deciding run chase! Plus the fading light which is the reason for my hunch about an England victory. 346403 How can the light come into it? If England are still batting when it goes dark, the game's over anyway. If the Aussies are batting when it goes dark, they're hardly likely to accept the light. Or have I missed something?
Lee Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 If the Aussies are batting, they'll keep going until last orders. Was it Karachi when Thorpe won the test for England in the dark whilst the Pakistani fielders were running around chasing non-existant balls? Could be a repeat

Or have I missed something? 346421 I think he meant that the Aussies would struggle to bat in the fading light, hence it would be harder for them.
Blueboy Downunder Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Relax Flopsy - the Convicts aren't even going to have a bat today! 346419 paddy...it would be nice if they didn't get a bat at all for whatever reason. everybody has been talking about what score the aussies will have to chase down....it seems people have totally ignored the possibility that we will just keep batting and batting. just bat for an hr affter tea and then if we have enough on the board.....put them in, if not to keep batting....and watch them complain in the media that we did not even want to play for a result in this game....!
SouthAussieRover Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 You certainly can, come back to the dark side! 346420 Not until England beat India in India. What a great series this has been. Far better than the usual one sided affairs over many years. Congrats to all the players for a fascinatiningly hard fought series played in a generally positive and friendly manner. Let's bid farewell to Warne and McGrath in their last Test matches in England. Also to Benaud who will no longer be commentating on Test matches in England. Roll on two years time in Australia and, who knows, some of us may meet up when the Ashes are next on.
Lee Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 The temptation to co-ordinate another visit to Australia with some more test matches is certainly there. I do wish the Premier League would introduce a winter break!
Paul Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Let's bid farewell to Warne and McGrath in their last Test matches in England. 346427 Providing he's fit I'd put money on Warne playing in 2007
SouthAussieRover Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Providing he's fit I'd put money on Warne playing in 2007 346430 Aye Paul but the next Ashes series is in Australia.
Paul Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Sorry, yes I din't get your meaning properly first time I read the post.
Lee Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 TMS are talking about Warne returning in 2009!
SouthAussieRover Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Okay folks enjoy the aftermath of vixtory over there. Catch you all later.
Scotty Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 You sense that Pietersen might start to take the pi55 now.
philipl Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Asking rate of 7 an over if Australia skittle the last three next over. I think we've won the Ashes.
Lee Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Come on Michael, declare and give England 30 overs to try to bowl them out
