Eddie Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Well not long to go until we'll all know who's getting the games. Such a big fix and a waste of money really the process should be changed but that's modern day sport for you, even when it's for an "amateur" games. Hoping London will get it, despite my present location, though I'm sure both could put on a great show, just have a feeling Paris will get it in the end though.

M-K Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 British taxpayers: start saving for that one-use-only canoe course
dave birch Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 M-K, you're not far wrong there. Wait for all the political hoo haa. Money being deflected from the education/hospital/transport budgets to pay for it. This is what the political parties will push at you. You will be heartily sick of it well before it happens. It's good when it happens, it's over in a flash, and there's a feeling of emptiness when it's finished. My advice would be to get involved, it's a bit of (short term) fun.
AndyR Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 We can use our EU rebate to help pay for it too - Thanks Mr Chirac!!
Dr Gonzo Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Having lived in East London, I think its worth it just to see Stratford razed to the ground
Guest Kamy100 Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Apparently this is how the voting went: First round London 22 Paris 21 Madrid 20 New York 19 Moscow 15 (eliminated) Second round Madrid 32 London 27 Paris 25 New York 16 (eliminated) Third round London 39 Paris 33 Madrid 31 (eliminated) Fourth round London 54 Paris 50 (eliminated)
Nayef Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Monsieur Chirac, I think you will find that your "fine cuisine" will not taste too fine tonight.

Rovers_4_life Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 I'd just like to say how deeply sympathetic i feel towards the French!
Roaming Rover Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Well done London........er..............i mean Great Britain
Alan75 Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Olympic Village ................3 billion Olympic Stadiums ...............5 billion Transport ......................3 billion The look on Jacques Chirac's face..............Priceless
jim mk2 Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Great for London which will put on a show that will make the so-called "best-ever" Olympics in Sydney look like a village fete. Bad news for the rest of England as billions of pounds are pumped into what is already the wealthiest area of the country.
Nayef Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 Apparently this is how the voting went: First round London 22 Paris 21 Madrid 20 New York 19 Moscow 15 (eliminated) Second round Madrid 32 London 27 Paris 25 New York 16 (eliminated) Third round London 39 Paris 33 Madrid 31 (eliminated) Fourth round London 54 Paris 50 (eliminated) 329494[/snapback] I don't understand this. Someone who voted for Madrid in Round 2 suddenly had a change of heart and voted for Paris in Round 3?! Am I right in thinking that if this ONE person alone stuck with his original vote of Madrid then Round 3 would see Paris 32 Madrid 32 and so Madrid wouldn't quite be eliminated?
