Guest Kamy100 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 (edited) Huge explosions on the underground. Lots of Casualties. I am also hearing that a bus has blown up which suggests that this could be a terrorist attack: http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-1188265,00.html Edited July 7, 2005 by Kamy100

den Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Last I heard was that it was caused by a power surge. Anything changed?
Guest Kamy100 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Yeah that is what I heard but apparently there are now reports that a bus has also blown up.
Ricky Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Just had my brother on the phone, it's definately not down to a power surge. He is working near one of the stations and said that he has heard a few loud bangs. He is basically crapping himself at the moment. He's just jumped in the van and trying to get out of central London
Guest Kamy100 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Radio 5 live reporting that there are unconfirmed reports that a bomb exploded in a litter bin near Russell Square.
Guest Kamy100 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Press Association are reporting that Underground Union Officials are saying that these incidents are due to "explosive devices".
stuwilky Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 BBC is still going with 'Power surge' on its website. 329703 Its not been updated since 10am though. Its wait and see time, plenty of fuss and wait for the real info to start emerging. Cant get much sense out of PA News feed
brfcshabba Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 The national grid have said that nothing has happened at the station in reference to a power surge. So it looks like it is a device.
den Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Explosions on three buses, one double decker bus wrecked.
stuwilky Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Explosions on three buses, one double decker bus wrecked. 329718 source den?
14May1995 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 source den? 329721 BBC News 24 are reporting that.
Roaming Rover Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Link Think this is the same link as Kammy but here it is again
Guest Kamy100 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 All reports suggesting that this NOT a power surge and more a terrorist attack. I feel sick.
Dan Furness Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Trying to find out off ATOC (a big client of ours) whats going on as their office is right in the middle but I cant get hold of my contact. God it sounds bad
den Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 BBC News 24 are reporting that. 329723 ITV news Stu. It appears beyond doubt, this is a terrorist attack. It's also confirmed that there are fatalities.
Dan Furness Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Well I cant get hold of them and their office is literally few feet away from Russell Square. Oh god
dave birch Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 DMF, there's a good chance that some phone lines have been cut. Just hope and pray.
Guest Kamy100 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 This is looking like it is castarophic. London Ambulance service is reporting that it is only dealing with life threatening injuries.
philipl Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 1) My wife was travelling up to central London this morning and I cannot reach her 2) The explosions seem to be between Edgware Road and Aldgate on the metropolitan line and thankfully she would not be in that area at that time 3) All telephone lines are jammed- its the same effect as 9/11; for two days it was easier to ring Afghanistan than anywhere in the USA at that time. 4) So if you're trying to London, it is a function of busy lines- try e-mail or skype
SharrockDownSouth Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 It was definately a power surge on the tube. I was on the piccadilly line when it happened, and it fried the monitors in our driver's cab. What the cause of the power surge was is another matter. Reports from friends of colleagues that the explosion near Russell square shook their building, but TV pictures don't show any damage to the surrounding buildings. Also, I can't get any mobile service at all, probably due to sheer volume (i'm in oxford circus) Could be fun getting home tonight...
philipl Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 If it was blowing monitors, the tube is completely bust. All the motors will be fused on every car- it will be months before London is operating again. Seems to be a very well researched inside job.
Dan Furness Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 DMF, there's a good chance that some phone lines have been cut. Just hope and pray. 329741 Hope so, they are literally feet away from Russell Square. Im presuming they have been evacuated. Just looking on our system cos this is where we come into play with emergency co-ordination etc, put a sh!tload of coaches on standby in area. It really looks bad
den Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Government sources - 20 dead. Don't panic folks, the odds on anyone you know being injured must be absolutely minimal.
