colin
bolton are mancs!!! ...not lancs like us!!! No they are not. Bolton is in the administrative area of Greater Manchester*, but it is still in the County Of Lancashire, as are Wigan, Tameside, Rochdale, Tameside, Manchester, Salford, Oldham, Sefton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Trafford & a probably a few others few other I can't remember. see here *which is, for most purposes, defunct

The road signs are there as a navigational aid, so sticking up a "Bolton" sign works OK. Sticking up a "welcome to Lancashire" sign as you go north through the Mersey Tunnel is a bit of a bugger. As for the postcode on a letter, that's for the Post Office. Burnley addresses have a Blackburn postcode, (yes we have them) Rochdale have an Oldham code. prestonwhite
Read with interest a few comments on here about my earlier post, BWFC and yourselves..... Will being in Europe have an impact on your crowds?? The answers YES and it'll be detrimental. You'll end up with numerous games on Sundays at various times which just doesn't encourage people to go, especially away games. Been watching the whites for 30 years and last year I only did 6 away league games which for me isn't good. Don't know who you play in the league away in November but I cant see any long threads about travel, hotels etc! All the talks about one thing, going on a European jolly! In some ways I was pleased we didn't qualify this year as for the majority of supporters attending away European games last year became priority and unfortunately away league games juts didn't have the same appeal. You only have to look at the support we took to see how people were spending their money..... 2,000 to Bulgaria 500 to Turkey 4,000 to Portugal and 4,500 to Marseille I'm actually looking forward to away league games far more this season and I know a lot of others are. As I said before our following at yours was very poor (I did go by the way!), but I think you'll find you'll be in exactly the same position. I did 3 out of 4 Euro games and spent at least £1,000 doing so. When you know you're forking out that sort of cash spending £30 for an away game at 5.15 on a Saturday night, on Sky in the middle of January just doesn't seem quite as appealing to a lot of people even if it is a local derby! Read the comments in the Bolton press by the way about us not thinking of going down the same route with reduced prices, must say though if the game's a sell out I think that'll make them look long and hard at that one!!! Still convinced we’ll sell out by the way given the amount of interest being shown!

Still convinced we’ll sell out by the way given the amount of interest being shown! All fair comment PW. You have obviously not come on to our site to slag us off, but rather to have a sensible discussion about a problem that is becoming serious and affecting all the smaller clubs in the Prem (maybe some of the "big clubs" as well.) I feel that this being a common problem to most clubs, it should be taken up by the official fans representative organisation at each club and put right at the top of the agenda for their next meeting with their clubs. If this does not persuade the clubs themselves to do something about it then we will all have to consider the next steps, but instead of each of us working alone why not try to arrange for a joint meeting of all the fans reps and see what combined action can do? cletus
Got my 4 tickets for the Notlob match yesterday afternoon & was served by the tasty blond (mentioned on another thread on here somewhere ) I asked 'Tasty' how tickets sales were going & she said "steady, but they expect it to pick-up over the next few days, as there is a lot of different games to contend with at the moment...i.e european, cup & league" I tried to keep her talking, but i think she soon realised i was just oggling her....& a queue was forming! roverich
You can't argue with the prices for the Notlob game! At £15 for adults and £5 for eberyone else (in all areas of the ground) you have no excuse for missing it. That's an entire family for £40 (based on typical 2 adults with 2 children) - can't get prices like that anywhere else in the league!

DanLad
Chat with a mate in the pub last night about Rovers crowds and he came up with an idea I've never heard before. Have the Rovers players actually spend some time in Blackburn. ISTR seeing Kevin Gallagher shopping in Tescos, Colin Hendry out having a few beers etc. If you see the players around town you relate to them more, partly contributing to the popularity of Dunn, Duff etc. Good idea or not? thenodrog
It's reported today that Sam Hamman is considering changing the name of Cardiff City to Cardiff Celts in an attempt to attract support from Swansea. So if he does and it works never mind Lanky Utd how about Blackburn South End?

jim mk2
Newcastle had 48,145 yesterday for the defeat by Bolton... their lowest league attendance for six years. Obviously a club in terminal decline. Perhaps they ought to merge with Sunderland and call themselves North East United.
adopted scouser
Newcastle had 48,145 yesterday for the defeat by Bolton Watched the game on Sky, the first time I've seen St James' with empty seats dotted all over the place. If 'the most loyal fans in the world' are drifting away, could it be further proof that the implosion has started ? Or have they realised that their team is cr@p ? adopted scouser
Must have galled them even more to lose to a team that I am learning to loathe. Fat Sam and his ridiculous walkie talkie thing, Cheating Diouf, Cheating Campo, Cheating Ben Haim. Boring footie and they are third in the league, baffled. den
I am sure that you are old enough (and some) to remember the barcodes getting 15000 before KK first era. Best fans in the land? There's something unique about the north east fans. When the going's good, they're there in their thousands. Hit a bad patch though and they're nowhere to be seen. Sunderland can fill their stadium with 48000 fans one day, then within weeks can lose 20000 of those. Even rovers don't do that. Best fans in the land?
