Two Rovers to face each other today as Jay McEveley's Ipswich travel to play Jonathon Douglas' Leeds United. In other games Plymouth (with Matt Derbyshire) travel to Southampton which isn't that far to travel and Stoke, with Gallagher in goalscoring form recently, host Glenn Hoddle's Wolves side.

Less dramatic for the loan players. McEveley apparently played very well in the Ipswich 2-0 win at Leeds and Gally missed a sitter but struck the corner which gave Stoke trheir late consolation in losing 1-3 to Wolves.

Derbyshire didn't get on for Plymouth apparently.

Colin Hendry is reported as interested in taking Johnson and Harkins on loan. I would think Johnson would only go if Matty is proven 100% OK.

With Dickov, Bellamy both injury prone, and Kuqi being Kuqi.. doubt it.

But if either Gally or Derbyshire returns in January, I'm sure Braveheart can get Jemal the last few months..

Seems that McEvely and Douglas are playing well in two inconsistent teams- Ipswich and Leeds- but Gally and Darbyshire are not even making the bench at Stoke and Plymouth.

McEveley was average today. And he even set up Readings second through sloppy defending. Although he did play on the left wing in the first half!?

His record is 6 apps (plus 2 as sub) 2 goals. I believe he has figured in all the games he has been eligible for.

McEveley was shocking today. He got ripped apart for most of the afternoon by Glen Little, then got the same treatment from Oster. He gave the ball away which led to one of the goals. He was bloody awful.

Oh, he got booked aswell for a dreadful challenge.

Does anyone know how douglas is doing at leeds, they seem to be having some good results lately and douglas is regular fixture in the team.

Also does anyone think hughes will sell gallagher to stoke? hes been getting good reviews for them, playing a major part for them taking all freekicks and corners, and the fans seem to cite him and Chadwick as their most classy players.

Douglas is certainly doing well enough at Leeds to be starting every match and he played the full ninety minutes last night as Leeds beat Southampton 2-1.

The Leeds fan at work has been raving about him recently, he's hoping Bates and co. make the deal permanent and thinks we've slipped up by allowing him to play against us in the Carling Cup....

Soon realised he wasn't winding me up (he thinks Harte was a terrible left back too - I almost respect his footballing opinions!), so it looks like Douglas may have found his level at long last.

It'll be interesting to see how he does against us next week.....

Always though Douglas was a decent player - nothing special mind. He'd have been good as a squad player, assuming his contract wasn't too much (not sure how much Souness gave the lad wink.gif ). Having said that if we can get anything for him I'm all for it!

Assuming Flitty departs at the end of his contract this summer, he could be a good back-up to Sav and the Axe.

I see Douglas as being rather similar to Damien Johnson. Not an exciting player but one whose all round game could be good enough to make him a decent Premiership regular.

Jemal Johnson scored his first goal for Preston on Tuesday during the 3-0 win over Hull City. From football365 - "Skipper Chris Lucketti played the ball over the Hull defence for Johnson, who turned inside his marker before firing high into the net at the near post." It seems he was quite a handful and also had some other chances.

F365 - Preston v Hull Match Report

The same website has the Stoke report (whoever wrote the report) claiming Gally's goal was "Brilliant" and "superb". "The young striker, who is on a season-long loan from Blackburn, was released by Bangoura before curling a 20-yard shot past a motionless Marton Fulop and into the top corner."

F365 Coventry v Stoke Match Report

This link from Sky Sports suggests that young goalkeeper Steve Drench may be leaving for Bury as he is currently on trial there. Doesn't mention if it will be a permanent deal or a loan arrangement. Gary Harkin and John Fitzgerald went on loan there last season, with Fitzgerald making his move permanent.

Shakers trial young Rover

EDIT - Just noticed this has been mentioned on the Johnson topic as well!

Just for completion, Jay McEveley came on for Wilnis in the 58th minute for Ipswich in their 3-3 'ding-dong' battle with Derby.

Edit: Interesting to read that Boskamp is fielding Gallagher on the wing.
