Alan75 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Preston manager Billy Davies has confirmed on North Ends website that he recently made an unsuccessful enquiry regarding the signing of Rovers striker Matt Jansen. Jay McEveley currently on loan to Ipswich is considering switching his allegiance to Scotland, despite having already played for England at Under 21 level. McEveley whose grandfather is Scottish, qualifies to play for Scotland after FIFA changed the rules, allowing players under the age of 21 to switch international allegiance. Rovers striker, Paul Gallagher, is making an impact with Stoke City on and off the field. Not only has he been knocking in some vital goals during his loan spell, he has also got involved in the Potteries campaign to stop smoking, recording anti smoking messages, that are transmitted on local radio. Former Rovers midfielder Alan Mahon, currently playing for Wigan Athletic, is being linked with a loan move back to Ipswich. Sunderland’s Jon Stead who left Rovers in the Summer, has withdrawn from the England Under 21 squad as a result of a hip injury.
