Yorick Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Danny Murphy is unsettled at Charlton if today's Mirror is to be believed. Would be perfect replacement in my view but maybe out of our price range. Anyway, here's to another 12 months Toogs. 370352 He won't do. Tugay made him look a 1st Div standard carthorse at Ewood a few weeks ago.

Blue blood Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 C'mon Tugay, sign a new one year deal. If he can play half as many games next season, he's worth keeping! 370203 Absolutely! And given the amount of games he's played and the quality of most of his performances this year there's every indication he can still hack it at Premiership level. If we're building our attacking game around Bellamy we really need playmakers of Tugay's ike rather than the less subtle approach of Tommo, we need someone with vision and flair, and Tommo for all his qualities doesn't have vision.
mhead Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 The next Tugay sits under our noses and is as Blackburn as most of us...and will cost nothing to bring back from Stoke City. Its Paul Gallagher...the next Teddy Sheringham.
rover6 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Next Tugay or next Sheringham? Make up your mind because they mean very different things. Not many Prem teams play with a Tugay type playmaker. Carrick does it at Tottenham, I suppose. Most teams have a specialist holding midfielder who plays the deepest out of the midfielders and that player has a remit to play it simple and concentrate on defending.
greggyk Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Im sorry, but Tugay is a totally different holding midfielder than most in the prem. For a start, he cant defend or tackle!!! (not having a go at Tugay, but thats just not his game)

LeChuck Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 (edited) No, just an eye for a really good player. 371118 Um... When has Gallagher ever played as a central midfield playmaker? Tugay is a creative player but he's not positioned in an attacking part of the field. I can't see Gally being very good in a defensive midfield position somehow. Anyway, if he's the next Teddy Sheringham, then how can he replace Tugay? Those two players are nothing alike. Edited January 3, 2006 by LeChuck
DanLad Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 I thought Reid played well at DMC. He's not got the creativity of Toogs, but he's got pace, strength, powerful in the tackle and pretty good in the air. He kept the ball moving well yesterday. I still want Toogs to sign an extension, though. I wasn't a big Tugay fan and thought it was a mistake signing him for another season when we did in the summer. I am very pleased to be wrong. Someone posted that Tugay is in the best form he has ever been for us at the moment and I agree. He's looking the fittest and sharpest I have ever seen him. Well done that man!
Welshrover1981 Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Does anyone know if Gary O'Neil is an Attacking Midfielder or just a Bog Standard Midfielder. I have heard from alot of people that he is pretty **** Hot and is in fact a better player than Emerton? Loads of Cardiff City fans says he was awesome while he was there on loan and is also playing well for Pompey. What about Koumas? OK he needs a prodding up the arse sometimes but he is actually a very good creative midfielder. But there again Tugay sometimes needs a good prod up the arase get him going in some games. Plus Robbo is wanting to get rid of him and also the obvious Welsh connection.
andy82 Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Ive watched Koumas a few times for Cardiff, hes been utterley crap one game and then superb the next, probably fit in well at Rovers.
Nelsta Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Just a thought.I dont honestley think we could get him but i wouldnt mind if we put a bid in for Andreas Ivanschitz.Every time if seen him play i always thought he looked like a decent player

He could provide our pre match entertainment with his music band, then he can play in midfield during the game.
Billy Castell Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Saw something on SSN this morning about Jay Jay Ockoha wanting to leave.
Ricky Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Can any of our aussie friends give us the lowdown on Skoko. He has hinted that he might leave Wigan. Thought he was impressive when we played against him when he was at Genclerbirligi.
roverstilidie123 Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Tugay has been one of my favourite players to watch at Ewood - even including the championship winning team and when he went through his "invisible friend" spell! But he's getting on and we need a replacement creative midfielder. Unfortunately, I think we sold his natural successor - not Wee Barry but Dunny. Who would you like to see at Rovers in the role of creative midfielder (that we could afford and would come here). That new fella at West Ham looks decent - but they don't look like they're going down anytime yet! 355707 i would like to see joey barton or stalin petrov.
Bazzanotsogreat Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 i would like to see joey barton or stalin petrov. 373504 Thats it bring back the bolsheviks to Blackburn
Billy Castell Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 We already have enough left wingers in Pedersen and Peter . It had to be said.
herbergeehh Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Thats it bring back the bolsheviks to Blackburn 373523 Joey Barton probably won't..
blue/white Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 I'd love to see Ivanshitz @ Ewood.... think of the Tabloid headlines !
blue phil Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 i would like to see joey barton or stalin petrov. 373504 Stalin eh ? Eddie and Ewood Spark'll be chuffed
Billy Castell Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Recruitment of staff will be easy-just conscript any political prisoner.
Ozz Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 On the evidence of the last four games, Tugays replacement is now looking like the next challenge for MH. Take the Turk out and we have nowt in the middle capable of running a game, witness WBA Saturday. Certainley not Mr Reid.

Take the Turk out and we have nowt in the middle capable of running a game, witness WBA Saturday. Certainley not Mr Reid. 382145 I don't know, when Savage and Reid are on top of their game they can be a more than decent pairing. As for 'Tugayesque' creative players I can't think of many in the league. Carrick, Makelele, Gerrard, Lampard, perhaps Parker/Emre, Dunn although he plays further up the pitch, Izzet to an extent, Fabregas, Okocha. They are a rare breed, finding on we could afford would be a masterstroke. If we don't it isn't the end of the world provided we have good wide men and strikers. Bentley could also turn into our creative outlet, although we couldn't really play him in central midfield- 4312?
Napoleon Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Of our current squad only Bentley has enough vision and passing ability to fill the creative midfield spot in place of Tugay. Here's hoping for another Hughes transfer bargain like Ryan Nelsen if there's not enough cash to buy a proven replacement. Tugay is worthy of another year but he's become too inconsistent with age to rely on him to produce regularly.
