Saw this South Park rip take of the game last week and it made me laugh a lot.

The attention to detail and in-jokes in that episode gives it away that one of the writers (is it still just Parker & Stone ?) is a BIG fan of the game. They also did it with a big chunk of help from Bliz (that in-game bits were shout on closed-beta servers).

It's a top top episode.

BTW (for those playing). I dinged 70 a while ago and just healed in the Black Morass without a single pot. I just need to get my arse around to getting my Kharazan key. My Armoury Link

Woah Pugg. That's some serious kit you have there (or at least was pre-TBC) ! Almost complete Dragonstalker's set and both Hakkari Swords ! My wife's Huntard would be so envious. I'm guessing you used to play a lot, had a break and have come back (becuase that kit is near impossible to get nowadays, unless you have a very odd guild and if you'd been playing much since TBC then you'd be 70 by now).

Well, having got The Black Morass to a point where it's almost on farm, we're now gearing up the guild for our first trip into Kharazan.

Yeah I used to play loads but have tailed off, I've obviously bought TBC but can't get the desire to play back yet .

I went to BWL lots and every time we killed Nef the DS Chest (only bit i'm missing) never dropped, the week after I quit it dropped .

I just love the guys in my guild so I log on every week for a few hours for a chat and to do a bit of questing, I should really get my arse in to gear and get to 70.

I never got to BWL, ours is a pretty casual guild and we only just managed to drop Raggy in MC before TBC. Tomorrow is our first guild only Kharazan run.

I view my guild pretty much like my mates are Rovers. When it's all going badly and you start to wonder why the hell you bother it suddenly becomes more about having a laugh with your mates than the actual game. Then soon enough you find the game start mattering as much as it ever did.

I'm told Saturday's Torygraph is giving away free WoW 14 day trial account CDs. Incoming noobs, I'm almost tempted to roll a new char on a PvP server

Hey, I kept seeing this forum, so I figured I'd finally ask about the game.

I've seen this game, but never played. The who on-line subscription stuff always did slightly turn me off since I don't have more than 1 hour on-line time in total each night, so not really enough to get into a game like WoW on line, I think.

Is there an off-line version of it? is it worth it to get if I'm only gonna play ~3-4 hours a week?

Any advice is appreciated!

Dude, seriously, avoid this game. It's loads of fun to begin with but once you get into it, it's like being married. Really bad news... Free with the paper or not, it's not worth doing.

Worth it ? Well it costs me a lot less than Sky and gets a lot more use (I think in the US it's about $12 a month). I wasn't keen on the monthly subscription idea either, which is why I didn't play until about 10 months after my mates started. But I gave the free trial a try and after about an hour decided I was subscribing.

The game is all about the mass-multiplayer aspect (especially as you progress), there is no offline equivalent. You'll find that after you've got past the initial learning stage that the whole social side of it becomes more important.

M-K does make a point, it's not called WarCrack for nothing, you need to be very disciplined not to lose every spare minute of your life to it, very much like Footy Manager.

I used to play WoW from day one of the US betas (way back in early 2004), played US retail in late 2004, started again in early 2005 for the Euro release and hammered it for a year or so. Was in a guild that regularly cleared BWL and was all set for the opening of ..er..that desert insect instance (name escapes me), playing for 8 hours a day sometimes, then I just had a moment of clarity. I woke up. Similar to when you've had an orgasm on your own, lieing on the sofa watching some porn getting turned on by the absurdly graphic images, everything seems so right, then suddenly *pppt* bingo...its like walking in on yourself...what are you doing? what the .... are you doing?

Stuck the account on ebay, £500 thank you very much.

There's been nothing in the new content or expansion to tempt me back.

I had a moment like that. That was when I decided to regulate my play much much more and the second it starts taking over my lfe again, it has to go. Since then I've been much more moderate in my play.

That event btw was the opening of Ahn'Quiraj (or something, it long since beceame AQ20 and AQ40).

I've also never quite worked out why people would pay such stupid amounts for accounts. To me the fun is leveling a char, buying one off ebay is just limiting that fun massively.

Play this rather a lot myself, it sure is a relationship killer though.

The new expansion is coming out very soon, but Warhammer Online is coming out around the same time, anyone any thoughts on how good that game's gonna be?

Yeah I believe so, think it's just the ballache of grinding a character up another 10 levels that's gonna put me off, and the fact that all the level 70 raid instances which were introduced only a year ago are gonna be obselete.... the same two things that p****d me off when the last expansion was released.

Well. I'm still playing WAY too much (I hit 200 days played on my main on Friday night) ! I'm also in the WotLK beta, but I've only just hit 71, although my day time job means I've playing a lot less recently.

The guild I helped turn from a social guild into a raiding guild has now going 4/5 MH, 4/8 BT and we got Vashj (a rare thing on our server), so I'm rather proud.

If anyone fancies giving it a go, let me know, there are some rather sweet recrtuit-a-friend incentives just launched and as this is the slack time before a new expansion, NOW is the perfect time to join us as the newbie zones are teeming with level one characters again.

Yep. Most evenings for nigh on three years.

To be honest, it's now largely a social community thing, on the nights I'm not actually playing, I'll log on and keep the occasional eye on guild chat, whilst I watch TV or surf the net or something. So I can't say how much of that is actually playing.

But it certainly gets enough use to justify £7 a month.

Well, after playing almost every evening for almost 5 years (4 nights a week were competitive raiding for 4hrs straight) I've finally resigned from my raid team, stood down as an officer in the guild I've run for 4+ years and "gone social".

I've loved the time I've spent in wow and I'm not stopping entirely, but since going self employed, I just can't justify the time any more.

Well done, Wow can be very addictive and if you have family it cause some problems, I was totally blown away by Wow when I first played it, I only moved away from the computer desk to go to work. I played the game overall for about 2 years but on and off, I always distanced myself from the big guilds and did'nt entertain the raids because I knew I would be hooked big time like I was at the first.

I dont play it at all now and im glad, infact I dont play any rpg's anymore and leave my gaming to the PS3, I have a lot more free time to actually acomplish things in games, rather than to sit around for 5 hours doing nothing.

My missus played too It was ok as the kids were young but as they have grown I found it was best to break away from it, I really dont see anything wrong with it if your family are ok with it too but with me im a kind of all or nothing kind of person and its very hard to be a casual in Wow.

I did install the game a few times but I only lasted a month, I think my characters were around lvl 73 and I got tired of the whole lvling process again up to 80 and I soon lost interest, but I still remember now the first time in Deadmines like it was yesterday and the buzz I got from it.
