Classy Rovers

Even the Lancashire rain storms couldn’t dampen the celebrations as Bret Emerton lit the fuse as early as the second minute, to a display of entertaining football that the Rovers founders on the 5th November 1875 would have been proud of.

The atmosphere at Ewood generated by pure football, were reminiscent of days gone bye, with both forwards and both wingers scoring, I suspect there were no greater gasps or cheers that emanated during any fireworks display on Saturday night.

For the seventeen and a half thousand home supporters, who had braved the weather, this was a display of attacking football at it’s best, orchestrated by the midfield maestro, Tugay, who was ably assisted by Reid, feeding Emerton and Pedersen on the flanks, to provide some wing play not seen at Ewood since the departure of Duff and co.

Make no mistake, Charlton are no underdogs, sitting third in the league prior to the game and undefeated away all season, their travelling support, of no more that four hundred, would have expected at least a draw out of this fixture, however their team of aspiring England Internationals, being watched by the England Manager from the stand, were outplayed by pure football by a Rovers team, that is quickly loosing it’s “bully boys” tag.

After the historic 2-1 away win at Manchester United, when the pundits praised Rovers attacking prowes, Mark Hughes’ is bringing back the good times to Ewood; how unfortunate that we now have to wait, until the 3rd December before they run out again at Ewood.
