philipl Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Brilliant! Wigan have done something Real Madrid won't manage; knock Arsenal out over two legs. Come on Rovers, let's have the dream final for real football folks.
S15 Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Brilliant! Wigan have done something Real Madrid won't manage; knock Arsenal out over two legs. 377637 You don't half come out with some bold statements from high peaks. All credit though.
Hughesy Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Ohhhh the omens are good. Rovers vs Wigan final - Please!
boris bear Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Great stuff! Even the "fixed" semi final draw couldn't ensure the "dream final", lets hope it's the nightmare final!
Ninjathunder Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 IF we do get through to the final I can see the media's match reports already, starting with remarks on the final's poor attendance...
Scotty Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Delighted for Wigan - thought they really deserved it. They've done their bit, let's do our bit tomorrow and make it the dream final for us and Wigan and the nightmare final for everyone else. Can't wait for tomorrow now.
dillo_dillo Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Oh my...Oh my.... Wigan did it! they going to Final! Come on Rovers!!!
SAS Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 haha the fa are going to be devastated if we win imagine the traffic problems going down on the m6
krislu Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Anyone know when the final is? I take it that getting tickets shouldn't be a problem if we can get there..
SAS Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 (edited) 26th i think of feb Edited January 24, 2006 by slater_scott
krislu Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 26th i think of feb 377662 Thanks, if we win tomorrow I'm going!
Bing Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 As Joe Royle so eloquently put it in 1995 when Everton beat Spurs 4-1 in the FA Cup semi final, "@#/? to your dream final! And you spell that with two l's!"
RevidgeBlue Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Never been so delighted about the result of a match not involving Rovers. I only saw the second half onwards but on that basis Wigan were absolutely magnificent. They wanted it far more than the poncey gooners and if we show the same desire tomorrow night we will go through. No question. Dave Whelan (whatever he may be like in person ) was also excellent tonight. Tracked by the Sky Cameras, came down from the directors box to walk half the length of the pitch to salute the travelling fans only to be ridiculously turned back by the home stewards. Undeterred he then went to the disabled supporters area and then embraced a couple of wheelchair bound supporters with real affection. C'mon Rovers, let's make it the people's final and the Broadcaster's nightmare!
Lee Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 All the people from the written press gathered for the pre-match press conference today all wanted a Rovers v Wigan final, rather than another Man Utd v Arsenal snoozefest.
USABlue Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 If anyone needed any convincing that there is favouritism in the modern game toward big clubs then tonight's match was it. there is no shadow of a doubt in my mind after two nailed on penalties were waved away. I am just so happy that Wigan made it anyway. Well done and I'm happy for Whelan too. Now, tomorrow night, I sense something similar in terms of dubious decisions and am wondering which of our players will get sent off. I can handle it if we lose but I want to lose fair and square that's all the fans want. Come on Rovers, this could be sweet. (Problem being it likely won't be on Telly here if it is us and Wigan)
joey_big_nose Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 (Problem being it likely won't be on Telly here if it is us and Wigan) 377682 Don't say that! It has to be surely. Im not going to get to see the game tomorrow because my work is full of beestards so I will have Rovers world on the radio. If I dance on my chair because the Ped scores in the 118th minute they are just going to have to deal with it.
philipl Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Wigan will sell their 30,000. They love their big days out and the egg chasing fraternity haven't been doing so well and I bet they'll go down to Cardiff for this one! The novelty value alone will shift 10,000 tickets. Gav's bet at risk if we don't sort out the Mancs tonight- this will boost Wigan's ordinary gates as well.
Bobby G Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 A true cup final if we make it. I dont think we can get more psyched up than knowing we can win the title by winning tonight.
SAS Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 All the people from the written press gathered for the pre-match press conference today all wanted a Rovers v Wigan final, rather than another Man Utd v Arsenal snoozefest. 377672 that makes a change, they usually cream themselves over man utd v arsenal games
LDRover Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 imagine the traffic problems going down on the m6 377657 Don't worry about that Scott, just leave early. Like a couple of days before, then sample the Cardiff hospitality for the weekend rather than the day.
