Great news.

He is the player which we have really missed this season and hopefully having him back will give the lads an extra bit of confidence. He is one of those players which you can really rely on and hopefully that will rub off on the other players.

Its seems like he will be back in about 6 weeks which is great news considering they were saying he maybe out for the whole season.

Any sentence will never be able to sum up how much we've missed him this season and a few of the games when he was out last year as well. I've never seen anyone as inspirational at centre-half, since the days of 'Big Col Hendry'. He really was our unsung hero from last season and was lost for words when he didn't win it. In away thought it under-mined his performances.

Anyhow had a brief chat with him before the game and said that he will be out for a few more weeks and if all goes well, then he will play a few games for the reserves in January. Said it was a rare injury where the hamstring ripped away from his buttock. He's been very pleased with the rehab thus far and is eager to get back into playin again.

What about the centre-back pairing of:-

Nelsen/Ooijer.

But Andy Todd and Zurab will also be lurking around there and we will soon have one of the tighest defences in the league shortly. Can't wait until it happens!!

Great to have Nelsen back, but i fear that we'll not see the Admiral of olden times until late in this season.

He's ben sidelined for half a season, and will need several games to get match fit and get his form back. It may, unfortunatly, be many a game until he's back to his best. :(

But then again, even a semi-fit Admiral si better than most defenders. :rover:

Fantastic news that Nelsen is on the way back, and this very fact should have a "boosting" effect on the existing CB's who will not want to lose their places. They now know that they too are on trial for the next few weeks. Let's hope it shows!

It will be good to have him back, i'll always remember an amazing 'big col-escq' tackle on Cristiano Ronaldo at OT, he got the ball cleanly and at the same time hammered Ronaldo 3ft in the air - awesome and I bet it bruised Ronaldo a bit, he stayed out of Nelson's way the rest of the game.

I'm a bit confused, Nelsen says in the Nov 26 story:

I'm doing pretty much everything in training, running, working with the ball. It's just the real sprint stuff, but I'm pretty close.

And now, almost a month later, we have a story saying he's back in training? If it was just a case of the first story being that he was doing serious physical training it'd have made sense, but "working with the ball" would mean that he's training with the rest of the squad, no? So I don't quite get it.

Anyhow, he's on his way back and apparently doing well. I just hope it's an injury with no great risk of recurring, and I most certainly hope they don't rush him back. As much as we miss him for every week he's injured, everyone would still prefer waiting perhaps 2 weeks more than necessary if that would minimize the risk of him missing another 5 months.

All thats being reported is that he is out of action (matches) for a few more weeks, buts he's been training pretty hard overthe last month or so during his rehab. At the end of the day he's in the hands of one of the best physios in the league. A total gem in Dave Fevre.

My information came from the article he ( Nelsen ) wrote in the programme for the Wigan game. The injury was so serious and unusual that Rovers couldn't find a football injury specialist to treat it, they had to go to Scandinavia to find a doctor who specialised in ski-ing injuries to get him operated on.

Excuse my trepidation but that sounds serious to me- I'm keeping my fingers crossed but if the lad is back to top form before the end of the season I'll be mightily relieved.

I'm no doctor but

- skiing speciality injuries are not prone to worse recovery prognosis than football speciality injuries apart from certain sorts of knee and ankle injuries or hitting a tree at 90mph.

- the medical bulletins are totally accurate and non-contradictory. No doubt Nelsen has been on a total fitness regime for the remainder of his body for many weeks now. The injured hammy will have been having its own programme so now the news is that it is strong enough for him to do the work footballers normally do in recuperation from a long lay off.

NELSEN LOOKING TO MAKING RETURN TO ACTION.

Looks as though it could be a good New Year with Rovers, despite the long-term loss to Steven Reid. The admiral Ryan Nelsen looks to make his return this season with the Reserves to-day, as they have made the trip North to take on the blue half of Glasgow in a behind the doors fixture. Rovers are fielding a strong team with a good deal of experience with a few senior members, such as Michael Gray, Sergio Peter, Dom Matteo taking part.

Summer siging Francis Jeffers is also looking to make an impact against his former team as he tries to over-come his groin injury. Hopefully we can be looking forward to Mr Nelsen back on the field of Ewood within the next few weeks.

Blackburn Rovers premier league skipper Ryan Nelsen has backed Danny Hay's retention as All Whites captain, healing a potential rift as they prepare for two huge World Cup warm-up games in South America.

Nelsen heals wounds by backing Hay as skipper

The All Whites tour Costa Rica and Venezuela between March 20-31, hopefully the travel doesnt effect him too much
