Brownie Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Latest from The Sun Fratton boss Redknapp, who has also seen moves for Stilian Petrov, Nicolas Anelka, Ryan Nelsen and Juan Pablo Sorin collapse, said: “That deal is dead.” Nelson last night signed a four-year deal at Blackburn to take his pay to £30,000 a week. Defender Nelsen, 28, was the subject of a £4.5million bid from Pompey boss Harry Redknapp. That forced Rovers into contract talks — and now the Kiwi has netted a big wage rise.

bob fleming Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Yes. As Bobby G would no doubt put it, and probably will very soon: "That's good news, I hope that Neill follows in Reid and Nelson's footsteps."
Bobby G Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 If Neill were to do to noble thing and sign on the dotted line Like Reid and Nelsen before him, then that would, no doubt, be good news...

I was starting to get worried with all the humming and hawing quotes attributed to Ryan. Now if only Neill would get his head out of his arse and realise he's onto a good thing here...

Mark Atkins' Bald Patch Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Rovers official text service courtesy of Lee Great news!! Ok Lucas, Mr. Williams will see you now, if you'd like to go on in...
Oakland Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 that's good news! Now Neill and Emerton should follow the leader...
Ste B Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Excellent news.. Vinjay will be crying into his lunch now You should congratulate Williams at your next BRISA meeting whenever that is. What a waste of money for those supporters who bought their memberships. Con merchants. Conggratulate him for what? Well not for the fact he's sold another star player and has let players run down to the last year of their contracts. Their's an article some years back sayying the club's policy was to sign players to long term contracts not let them run down. Another thing that's changed at this club. So congratulate Williams for the "achivement" of taking the crown from Ellis for worst chairman in this league. God I hope it's this club saved next.
Ricky Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Is he still on the scene Ste. Didn't know you were still getting emails off him.

Hughesy Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Great news - So far this summer we have had Nelsen, Reid & Pedersen all signing 4 year deals. We just need Neill to sign up now too.
philipl Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 (edited) The last two pages have made extremely pleasant and very amusing reading. Well done Rovers and Nelsen. Where's Peter Cucumber to write a song for 'Arry on Saturday? If nothing original comes up, could always sing loadsoplayers to the (obscenely loathesome but funny when the Blackburn End waved its credit cards at the opposition) loadsomoney chant we had in the early '90s! 'Arry, 'Arry, who've you signed? Edited August 16, 2006 by philipl

Cheshireblue Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 It is great news about Nelsen, especially after Reid and MGP have also signed new deals. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it, but wouldn't it be super if Lucas followed their examples?
