Proud to be a Cobbler Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 There is speculation on our forum The Hotel End that Colin Calderwood is close to securing your young striker Matt Derbyshire on a loan. I hear he has little/no first-team experience but didn't know if you could tell us more about him. Cheers, Ben.

Shevchenko Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 He's already gone on loan according to Rovers official site. Da Vita took his place in the reserves today.
colin Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Cobbler, I'm sure that other here will be able to tell you a lot more than me but, at the moment, we seem to be off-loading some young players who are doing really well at other clubs: Neil Danns went from us to Colchester and is doing really well there (OK it's a few divisions down) Paul Gallacher is doing OK at Stoke City Jonathon Douglas is doing the business at Leeds. I hope Derbyshire does well for you. I have a soft spot for Northampton due to circumstances lost in the mists of time, I hope he & The Cobblers do well.

Proud to be a Cobbler Posted February 13, 2006 Author Posted February 13, 2006 Just found this link. Seems like Wrexham beat us to him. Thanks anyway Rovers.
Exiled_Rover Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I hope he does well there, he certainly has a bright future at Ewood if developed correctly - which I'm sure, under Hughes, is what will happen.
Will Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 A mate at work is the Worlds biggest Wrexham fan and has promised to keep me updated on his performances.

AggyBlue Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 A mate at work is the Worlds biggest Wrexham fan 383972 Not got much competition, has he
Will Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Well, he has seen Wrexham play at 85 of 92 league clubs. He has asked me to ask you, how many have you seen the Rovers play at ?
Presty On Tour Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 i don't think ive lived that long to see that happen
only2garners Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Well, he has seen Wrexham play at 85 of 92 league clubs. He has asked me to ask you, how many have you seen the Rovers play at ? 384032 Clearly a real fan if he's been to that many. Actually I suspect that Rovers may not have played at 85 of the current other 91 grounds, but no doubt there's someone out there who knows? I can only manage a modest 53 of the 92 (including Ewood) although I have been to both old and new grounds at a number of clubs and even 3 in the case of Bristol Rovers (although only to a rugby match at their currrent ground).
Will Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 It's very good, although you need to follow a side that has been good and very bad. I've been to 57, although, that amount has become a little static of late. I doubt very much I will get many more than that, unless the Rovers also become very bad
philipl Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 The Wrexham fan will be enormous by now- Matt Derbyshire has scored twice in the first half against Rushden & Diamonds.
herbergeehh Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Derbyshire praised for his two goals, the first one a tap-in, the second one a classy finish with the outside of his foot. Reading a Wrexham board, they seem especially impressed with his pace..

I still think he'll be a quality player for the Rovers in a year or so, but credit for him going on loan - helps out Wrexham (3 points already) and gives him some more experience.
Will Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 My mate phoned me this morning, thinks he is fantastic !! Said his second goal was world class !!
ihtd Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Lets not get to carried away with the lad yet. When he plays for the senior team and plays well i will begin to believe the hype.
Presty On Tour Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 2 goals on your debut is well good for any team in any league imo. if he keeps up this form its further pushing out gallagher and JJ out the door this summer.
MIROVER Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 My mate phoned me this morning, thinks he is fantastic !! Said his second goal was world class !! 384158 Saw the secong goal on SSN yes it was very good but who were they playing R+D aren't they bottom and the team stanley will be replacing in the fball league. He didn't set the world alight at Plymouth. Until he plays and scores for the first team regularly he remains as with alot of rovers youngsters promising and a more than capable lower league player.
Napoleon Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 It's always good to see a young player doing well on loan as it suggests a good attitude and allows their talent to develop. Is Derbyshire a local lad? I remember that he signed from Great Harwood but not sure if he's from the Blackburn area.
Macky Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Yep, he played for the mighty Robins. Think he is from the Blackburn Area.
Presty On Tour Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 with a name like derbyshire i thought he was from derby i'll get me coat

Know what your talking about before talking crap next time!.
