pleasure Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 (edited) The only official report I've heard is the torn groin - which would keep anyone out for a long time. You are the only source reporting a virus and as for the link from the times - how would they know? I've torn my groin a couple of times, (interestingly, a tear is also called a strain) and my recovery time has been about 4 wks- after rest, ice, and elevation. i was told if the strain was more serious, it'd take a couple more weeks to recover and, if it was a rupture, they require surgery, 3-4 months recovery time. i was using the times article to illustrate there were conflicting reports, (even though i accept the times could have got it wrong) and the 'jeffers having a virus, hamstring and groin injury comment' was ment in jest! "Franny had a tear, it wasn't as if it was just a groin strain, so we've had to wait until that's repaired," said Hughes, whose side faces Everton in the FA Cup on Sunday. Citizen Hey pleasure, you've got to be better than that to get past ol' Den.

Citizen Hey pleasure, you've got to be better than that to get past ol' Den. sorry, the link is to .... ''Striker trial is scrapped'' i'm gonna find medical evidence that supports groin tear and strain being decsribed as the same... just for my own sanity. i wasnt trying to get anything past you, den - just giving some insight into groin injuries.
den Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 sorry, the link is to .... ''Striker trial is scrapped'' It isn't now. I WAS only joking pleasure.
Lee Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 i'm gonna find medical evidence that supports groin tear and strain being decsribed as the same... just for my own sanity. The boss said to me something like, "it isn't a strain, it is a tear"
den Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 A groin "pull" is the same as a strain. If the strain is severe it causes the muscle fibres to "tear"
allan Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Jeffers has a long history of groin injuries and surgery going back to Everton days. Presumably this is yet another recurrence. Don't hold your breath about his return. Never has a player managed to spin out a top class (and top paid) career for achieving so little. The Guardian spoof on the January transfer window earlier this week ended with Jeffers being unveiled as the blockbuster last-day signing. Said it all really.
Dave S Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 A groin "pull" is the same as a strain. If the strain is severe it causes the muscle fibres to "tear" Den your like an "All in Wrestler!" Taking on everyone, Lee and Pleasure knocked about in a couple of posts.
revolutionrock! Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Shot by Morten Gamst Pedersen (Blackburn) left-footed from left channel (25 yards), save (parried) by Tim Howard (Everton). Goal by Matt Derbyshire (Blackburn) right-footed (low centre of goal) from left side of six-yard box (6 yards).Everton 0-1 Blackburn.
West Sussex Rover Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Derbyshire has made a decent contribution to matches when he has come on as sub; I really wouldn't like him to be starting them yet, but I think he has done enough to be considered striker number 4 when Roberts comes back.
tcj_jones Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 You're laughing at that post because Derbyshire scored a goal from six yards out?
West Sussex Rover Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 You're laughing at that post because Derbyshire scored a goal from six yards out? A goals a goal!
Dan Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 A goals a goal! It's nice to have him getting goals, I still think he should be slowly brought in. Benni and Nonda first choice for me, Derbyshire is useful as a sub for now. We don't want too much too soon for him, he is still young.
Presty On Tour Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 derbyshire has 2 goals in his last 2 games, i see no reason why he wont start against arsenal.
ABBEY Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Well done Matty. Let's see a REAL goal now. WHAT THE F DO YOU THINK HE'S BEEN SCORING ?PRETEND ONES
stuwilky Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 "A real goal" IF Matty can continue with his good progress he COULD be just what we need, and in fact have lacked for ages - a proper box striker. How many times has the ball gone into the box and we havnt had anyone following in? Plenty and if's and but's. Still hoping I'll be proved wrong on this one.
rover6 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 WHAT THE F DO YOU THINK HE'S BEEN SCORING ?PRETEND ONES It was said in jest. I apologise for the confusion, clearly Derbyshire did not score a make-believe goal and this was very ambiguous in my initial post.
thenodrog Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 "A real goal" IF Matty can continue with his good progress he COULD be just what we need, and in fact have lacked for ages - a proper box striker. Indeed. He's reminded me a few times of Alan Taylor ex West Ham for anybody who remebers him. He's certainly no Shearer copy thats for sure.
Blueheart Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 A real goal..what do you mean ! Garry Lineker got most of his goals from simple tap ins. A good goal poacher is one who is in the right place at the right time.

How many times has the ball gone into the box and we havnt had anyone following in? Benni has looked sharp in this area too though, even if half of his goals comes from offside postions.
pleasure Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Well done Matty. Let's see a REAL goal now. rebounds and tap-ins will do fine. i enjoyed it, besides - rovers never score enough of those kind of goals.
pleasure Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 A groin "pull" is the same as a strain. If the strain is severe it causes the muscle fibres to "tear" good work, den. I humbly apologise (how many times is that now..... ???)
Exiled_Rover Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 You're laughing at that post because Derbyshire scored a goal from six one yards out? Had to correct that.
AxesFirstTouch Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 (edited) Anyone whos seen him for the reserves, has he scored any scorching goals ala Bellamy?, his majority of goals for wrexham were tap ins and 1 on 1's I believe. Edited January 8, 2007 by AxesFirstTouch
