frosty Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Im sure, to get 6th spot, we'd only need at most 6 more points because if we got 6 more points West Ham would have to win all of their remaining games to catch us.

92er Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 I really hope we do finish 6th, but at the moment 6 points seems a big call.
Flopsy Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Spurs 0 - Utd 1 Fantastic counter attack from the scum
cn_barlow Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 a couple of weeks ago i was sure we'd get at least 6th....now i'm not so sure! Looking at the fixtures the only one i can see rovers winning at the moment is Citeh at home! Looking at the teams below us i think that West ham now have a real chance and even Newcastle have a chance looking at their fixtures! Here's hoping that we can pull something out of the bag on Wednesday night!
American Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 I'm beginning to know how Everton fans felt a few seasons back when we overtook them... Hopefully the poor finish last year was not the start of a trend. Wednesday's match is crucial.
greggyk Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 well actually, 2 weeks ago we were favourite to take 7th as Bolton had 2 games in hand and 2points behind us. Our position for 6th has improved over the last few weeks
tchocky Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 I think we are capable of another 7 points at best. 5 points at least. But you never know with these things. Either way I think we will finish 6th. Shame that decisions are going against us, and for Spuds lately..
den Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 West ham losing, newcastle losing and pompey winning.
grizfoot Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 2-0 to Boro now. All results going for us today then. Just need West Brom to beat Notlob tonight.
brfcshabba Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Apart from Newcastle who are only 3pts behind us now
Manchester Blue Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Apart from Newcastle who are only 3pts behind us now 399831 Some may see no way that we can lose 6th but a quick look at the fixtures shows Newcastle playing WBA, Birmingham and then finishing with Chelsea at home. Not the toughest of fixtures ever.
Mr. E Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 wow Sunderland truly are one of the worst teams to play in the Premiership...you almost feel sorry for them.
vyeo Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 absolutely vital that we get something out of the match against brum now. newcastle well in it. i'm depressed.
Guest Kamy100 Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Vital game on Weds if we want to secure a UEFA cup spot the easy way. IF we beat Brum that will see us almost there, however if we lose or draw then it opens the door for Bolton and Newcastle.
roversmum Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Can't help remembering how the lads have 'lost it' over the last few games at the end of recent seasons........
Bobby G Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Like I said, I think 1 point wouldnt be the worst result, but 3 would be great. We cant keep on dropping points. Luckily the sides around us are just as inconsistent as we are. Im beginning to feel scared about losing 6th place right at the death. That would be a massive blow.
all you need is duff Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Last time we finished 6th we got 60points. The same amount will be required this season. For us not to do that we would have to have achieved less then 8points from our last 7 games which is relegation form. We're in a wonderful situation, lets not throw it away.
Bobby G Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 2 wins is do-able Id say and that would mean that Newcastle would have to win their last three games just to tie with us. But stranger fall aparts have happened.
sleepyjack Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Shearer picked up an injury and thus might have played the last game of his career today. Not to be callous but it's a plus for us to have one of their best players out for these crucial last few games.
Hasta Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 It would have to be Newcastle that come out of the pack wouldnt it. On current form I thought we had no worries as no-one was playing consistently well enough to catch us. However they have shot up that quickly I hadnt noticed. I reckon they are gonna get 7 points which leaves us with work to do. However Birmingham , Charlton and City should be enough to see us get what we require - shouldnt it?
Rover4ever Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 It would have to be Newcastle that come out of the pack wouldnt it. 399863 They will look upon it as divien retribution for the Hand of Ped. I woudl gladly lose 6th to West Ham but not to Newcastle
