northernrover Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 FSP has gone abroad now. Recreativo Hulvargo or something. Ozziejones is right - Pongolle went to Recreativo Huelva yesterday. I'd prefer Warnock as part of the deal anyway if the rumour turns out to be true!

Presty On Tour Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 warnock would beat gray into our left back position, a future england propect imo.
FourLaneBlue Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Neill on brink "Blackburn rejected Liverpool's first bid for the 28-year-old Aussie, but negotiations continued overnight with Mark Hughes demanding a fee plus Warnock. "
The Gull Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Warnock is highly rated by the Liverpool fans I know, and having seen him play a few times and would be very happy with a couple of million and him for Neill. Think about, we have several options for the right back spot within the current senior squad, Emerton, Ooijer, Zurab and Steven Reid at a push. Our left back situation gives us two options Gray and Matteo(although I don't really want to bring him in to the equation, he is still part of the squad), oh and at a push Jay McEverly An extra option at left back would pretty much give us two decent players for every position. Sound business in my opinion.
Ricky Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Lets have a straight swap of kewell and Warnock for Neill. That would solve our attacking midfield and Left Back problems in one deal.
greggyk Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 shame he's been out injured for months though. Doubt he'd pass a medical
DP Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Warnock played a lot of premiership games in the first half of last season, but was then relegated to the bench as Kewell found some form and Risse was moved to left back. I think Traore was used more in the Champions League as he was more defensive than Warnock, who likes to go forward a fair bit. In theory, he would be ideal in a part exchange for Neill, as we do have other options at right back... but.. I am concerned about just how much we may miss Neill, and whether Warnock will just turn out to be like a couple of other "promising" left backs we signed from Liverpool
joey_big_nose Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 SOundl like Warnock will be a straight swap if anything, cash plus Warnock is a bit of a stretch. Hmmmm.... I suppoise that would be okay.
SFW Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Pretty sure I've just overheard on Sky Sports News that he's going to sign a new deal with us??? Anyone else hear it or am I having a mad one?

Presty On Tour Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 this best not be a wind up, i'd be well happy if this is true???
SFW Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Apparently we are offering him an improved contract offer. Hardly newsworthy really.

Blueboy Downunder Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 i can't find anything at all to do with that clarey. would be totally nice though if he does sign a new contract and at the reported 40,000 per week we should be able to afford that easily.
FourLaneBlue Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Doubt he will sign it knowing that if he sits tight he will be a Liverpool player soon enough, with a nice signing-on fee and good wages too. It'll be nice to proved wrong though...

Do a newsnow search. As SFW says he hasn't signed anything yet - we are just offering improved terms.

It'll be nice to proved wrong though... Not necessarily. Perhaps Liverpool saw him as available and a quick fix for their injury woes. Nothing to suggest they'll be back in again for him in January when their current defensive problems should be resolved and they might have their sights on someone else who has become available.
Gav Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Clearly Hughes rates him a much better player than some of us on here. His performances so far this term have hardly covered him in glory especially getting sent off at Pompey which was amateurish to say the least, so a new deal is surprising........ Neill holds all the aces though and i doubt he'll sign the new deal with Liverpools interest on going.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Rekon he'll get put at left-back? Not really fair on Emerton to kick him back to the bench after his performances at right-back, so far. But, I don't thik it'd be that fair on Gray either... but Lucas is better than Gray at left-back.
greggyk Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I though Lucas was pants at left back. His control of the ball with his weaker foot and his passing were ###### poor.

Whether Liverpool come back in for him or not, I still think he's likely to wait and see what offers come his way in January. Besides, I think his agent has already said he wants to move on. they_think_its_all_rover Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Would you stick Emo back on the bench then?
Drakefyre Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I though Lucas was pants at left back. His control of the ball with his weaker foot and his passing were ###### poor. He looked solid and adventurous to me! And he made a few really nice tackles.
Perth_Rover Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 He looked solid and adventurous to me! And he made a few really nice tackles. Yeah, i aswell thought he did well at left back.
Nayef Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Why on earth would Judas Neill sign an extended contract knowing Liverpool are waiting for him at the end of the season?
