nissefar Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 (edited) Basel(H) Krakow(A) Nancy(H) Feyenoord (A) I think.... Edited October 3, 2006 by nissefar
RoverJoexx Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 No Rangers but looks like a good draw avoiding decent clubs. Good chances of progressing I think.
CAPT KAYOS Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 GROUP H NEWCASTLE Celta Vigo Palermo Fenerbahce Eintracht Frankfurt Group of death
Radagast Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Not a bad draw at all. Newcastle and Spurs' groups look almost suited to the Champions League.
Gav Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 That would be tasty! Tin hat and travel insurance required!
cn174 Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 We've definately got a better draw than the other two english sides
Nayef Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I don't even know which country some of the teams are from: Braga? (fashion design?) Mlada Boleslav? (sounds like a bulgarian butler to me) Zulte Waregem? (isn't that the name of the next James Bond baddy)
The Fly Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Is Christian Gross still at Basle? Feyenoord are alright, Nancy should be beatable. We have to get through from this.
brfcjon Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 (edited) Basel(H) Krakow(A) Nancy(H) Feyenoord (A) I think.... How do you figure? I was thinking Krakow at Ewood due to the cold conditions during winter and pre draw that huy said something about taking weather into account.... And I am rather pleased with this group. Not a money maker but winable. Good think we didnt get group C... Edited October 3, 2006 by brfcjon
AndyR Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Taking the weather into account means teams from the artic circle (Russai) play both their home games first, then travel for their two away games.
herbergeehh Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I don't even know which country some of the teams are from: Braga? (fashion design?) Mlada Boleslav? (sounds like a bulgarian butler to me) Zulte Waregem? (isn't that the name of the next James Bond baddy) Braga is Portuguese, whilst Mlada Boleslav is a very decent team from the Czech Republic. As for Zulte.. the flag says Polish
brfcjon Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 ahhh ok! cheers. Didnt know I lived in the artiv cricle though - Denmark...
SAS Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Taking the weather into account means teams from the artic circle (Russai) play both their home games first, then travel for their two away games. same for austria, poland, switzerland i think
Presty On Tour Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 we should get through this, easy easy easy!!!
Blackpool_Rover Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Braga is Portuguese, whilst Mlada Boleslav is a very decent team from the Czech Republic. As for Zulte.. the flag says Polish Mlada Boleslav is a tiny village in the Czech Republic....the football team is so good because they are this countries version of Chelsea. They have rich owners who have poured money into the club. They had a great season last year and are now top of the league...about 5 points clear of Sparta and Slavia who are both quite terrible. The village Mlada Boleslav is also where Skoda is made. Krakow away would be a good day out...great little town!
FourLaneBlue Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Bert gets to play his old team... and Christian Gross is still the manager at Basel.
squaylor Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I think Wagerem is in Belgium, isn't it? For our away games, I vote for Krakow and Nancy - if you like touristy history stuff. And beer and food.
The1mattjansen Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Basle and Feyenoord have been respectable champions league sides in recent years, and Nancy will be no pushovers, I cant see where the optimism is coming from.
herbergeehh Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Sorry, you are right squaylor - the flag also says Belgium!
roversmum Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Basle and Feyenoord have been respectable champions league sides in recent years, and Nancy will be no pushovers, I cant see where the optimism is coming from. You're right. Remember we are Rovers Supporters...... Oh, woe is us, woe, woe and thrice woe. We stand no chance. Who's coming to jump off the top of the Jack Walker? We might as well end it all now. Despair, utter despair...................
AggyBlue Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Respective league positions:- Feyenoord - 9th Basle - 5th Krakow - 3rd Nancy - 3rd
herbergeehh Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Rovers 9th. It's a battle for fourth place then.
