rog of the rovers Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 (edited) Mine Goalkeepers ROBINSON JAMES GREEN Defenders G. NEVILLE R. FERDINAND TERRY A. COLE CARRAGHER KING BRIDGE Midfielders BECKHAM © LAMPARD GERRARD J. COLE CARRICK WRIGHT-PHILLIPS LENNON JENAS HARGREAVES Forwards OWEN CROUCH DEFOE BEATTIE I really think we should take the kid Lennon, he has been very impressive of late. I also think it better to take Beattie instead of Darren Bent as D. Bent and Defoe are virtually the same player, and despite his fantastic season, Defoe's experience must give him the edge. Hargreaves to scrape into the squad simply because he knows Germany well, and can tell some of the players what to expect at the grounds. Apart from that the squad pretty much picks itself, dont you think? *** NOTE I AM ASSUMING ROONEY WILL MISS THE TOURNAMENT *** Edited May 3, 2006 by rog of the rovers

Grass? Does he have to be a member of the squad just so he can tell everyone about which ground sells the best sausages?

pick32 Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 im surprised brown doesnt get mentioned for me he has been better than rio in united defence this season.
joey_big_nose Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 im surprised brown doesnt get mentioned for me he has been better than rio in united defence this season. 404638[/snapback] King will be going ahead of Brown owing to his versitility. It will be interesting to see if Ferdinand or Campbell even get to start. Carragher might pip them to a place in the side. My Squad: Robinson James Green (Can he believe his luck?) A Cole Neville Terry Carragher King Campbell Ferdinand Bridge (if fit. If not, who? Surely not Kochanski! Mickey Gray ha!) Beckham Gerrard Lampard Cole Carrick Lennon (Just ahead of SWP due to the latters lack of action) Downing (Boro cup runs allow him to oust Richardson as left footed option) Jenas (Just ahead of Hargreaves. I would take neither and bring Nolan but Sven will never do that.) Owen Crouch Defoe D Bent (Just ahead of Ashton. But I would have taken Ashton personally at the expense of either Bent or Defoe as it would be something different) As I think it is likely either Gerrard or Cole will actually start up front I think we will only take four 'proper' strikers. Lots of good players in there, and a nice mix of different types. Truly, even without Rooney, the best lot of players since 1990. ps. Parker is unavailable due to gladular fever. I would have picked him otherwise. And it is A 23 MAN SQUAD! pps. THe most reprented club in the squad is likely to be Spurs! B@astards.
ihtd Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 I'm only going to list my fringe players there is no point in listing obvious players like Beckham, Lampard & Gerrard. Matthew Dawson Aaron Lennon Darren Bent Scott Parker Shaun Wright Phillips Andy Johson or James Beattie-Either of those two if the injury situation gets desperate.

Blue blood Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Sven is highly likely to stick with his old favourites even if they are half crocked. Worryingly we could have a fair few of the squad not up to match sharpness. All of the below will have less than half a dozen games to get back to the highest standards, something that could cost us dearly. Those injured are: Bridge, A. Cole, King, Campbell, Owen - worryingly this includes our lead striker and both left backs, something that may be the chink in our otherwise impressive defence. With Rooney likely to be missing having our only other world class striker, who will be relied on even more, off the pace isn't too encouraging. If Rooney makes it, which I doubt, but may happen with Sven's favouritism then we can add a 6th play who will be short of match practice. Then you can factor in Wright-Phillips. Ok the guy hasn't been injured but he hasn't had too many competitive games, something which is likely to mean that his match sharpness will be lower. Even excluding Rooney 6 out of a squad of 23 who there will be question marks over isn't the best news ever. Squad: GK Robinson, James (shudder) Green. (I'd have taken Martyn but he won't be fit.) Defenders Neville, Carragher, Ferdinand, Terry, King (if fit), A. Cole, Bridge, Dawson Midfileders Beckham, Lennon, Carrick, Gerrard, Lampard, J. Cole, Downing, Nolan Strikers Owen, Beattie, Defoe, Bent

all you need is duff Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Has Sven lost it? Darren Bent scores 18 premiership goals and loses out to a 17year old who's never played in the premiership. And why is Hargreaves in?
