I cheated at Poker the other week against a newbie. I show my flush draw and go to take the chips. The newbie accross me only has a higher flush. However, he didn't realise that and I sure as hell wasn't going to tell him, especially when money was involved. That doesn't make me a bad person! I'm one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Sometimes we won't do the "right" thing, but nobody is perfect.

You cannot compare Henry, whose only major offense was playacting disgracefully for France ONCE, with Ronaldo who cheats his way through every game. All players dive at times, and Henry isn't really any worse than the majority of the Premiership's footballers.

Henry does a lot for charity and strikes me as a really good bloke. I am disapointed that he broke his promise that he would never leave Arsenal for Barcelona - if I were an Arsenal fan I might even be angry - but he isn't a bad person because of this. What a load of rubbish! You say that Henry is not a "good bloke" when there are disgusting little @#/?s like Joey Barton in the league?...

Once? Oh dear, have you been paying attention? Numerous occasions. Also, his comments after the CL final was disgusting and worse he was in the wrong. One simply cannot compare a game of poker to football, the game of poker is based on lies, and you're not a role model for thousands. I feel for the MANY people buying shirts and the likes.

I can however take back calling him a bad guy, because I don't know him as a person, and it was a rash comment. Though the things he's done that are blameworthy I would call dishonest and bad.

I don't think he is any worse 'cheat' (which isn't really cheating if the rules allow it to occur) then most other world footballers.

One the most gifted footballers of all time and in the top 2 if not the best foreign imports to play in the PL.

And we haven't even discussed what the hell Arsenal are thinking at the moment, selling your best player, no money given to the manager to replace him or even to buy world class players.

Wenger and Cesc will be the next to go.

Imo Wenger knew Henry was leaving last Autumn and has been planning for this event ever since.

Remember that people thought Arsenal would weaken when Anelka upped sticks and left but Wenger replaced him with Henry for less money. Henry has been a great asset for Arsenal and is a great player without doubt but he is a Vampire centre forward! He has performed to his ultimate because Wenger built a team and a style around Anelka first and then him later.

Footballers careers are short and there are no better 'cullers' of fading superstars than Wenger and Ferguson. If Wenger is staying at Arsenal then he will replace Thierry Henry without a doubt.

I for one will miss seeing Henry playing in the premier league. A total class act that guy.

Gotta make you fear for Arsenal though (only if you`re a gunners fan) i truly think their champions league, taken for granted 'annual' slot will be at risk this next season. I don`t think Wenger is happy either & will be off next year.

...then again, £16m for a 29yr old who suffered from injury for most of last season could (& i say 'could') be seen as good business.

And there's the rub! Henry stated frequently that he was fit to play...... Wenger stated frequently that Henry was not!

Bound to end in tears. Both knew that he was leaving imo.

Totally agree. Wenger, like Ferguson, has got pretty much every transfer decision correct, particularly when letting players go and has also shown himself to be more than capable of replacing star players. I think it is also easy to forget just how little Henry played last season and the fact that he didnt score a league goal after February (I think). Arsenal will be weaker, but it is more than enough money to bring in a good quality forward and Wenger could easily find another star from somewhere.

Eddie, before you bow down and worship (as Roar of the Rover does with Benitez), here are a few examples of their dealings in recent years......

Arsenal.......................................Man Utd

Senderos 2 million.....................N'Galula free

Reyes 10.5 million.....................Bellion 2 million

Lupoli free................................Djemba Djemba 3.5 million

Cygan 2.1 million......................Howard 2.3 million

Shabaan free...........................Kleberson 5.9 million

Warmuz free............................Fangzhou 500k

van Bronckhurst 8.5 million.......Richardson free

Wright 6 million........................Ferdinand 30 million

Tavlaridis 600k.........................Ricardo 1.5 million

Svard nominal..........................Veron 28.1 million

Volz free...................................Forlan 7.5 million

Demel free

Stepanovs 1 million

Danilevicius 1 million

Jeffers 8 million

Yes of course they've made some good signings, but they've made some stinkers too. As have all managers.

Actually yeah it does. Typical of the way our society is now, it's the other blokes fault you cheated him.

 Oh come on now USA you cannot be implying that I am a bad person because of that?! That really did make me laugh.

It's not his fault that he's new to the game or that he didn't notice. Likewise, I can't be blamed if an opponent decides to play the game for money without practising or knowing the rules! If I can keep hold of my money, I'm going to!

Oh and by the way, I wouldn't play poker any time soon, I don't think you'd quite be ruthless enough somehow!

I'm not even an Arsenal fan but the pictures of Henry at the Nou Camp really get me down. The man is the best player ever to have plied his trade in the United Kingdom and his class is going to be sorely missed.

USA's right.

You've knowingly taken money of someone by cheating. The fact that you think it's fine because they're new makes it even worse.

This isn't like somebody dropping a £10er and me picking it up, or somebody paying me too much money for something I've sold on ebay and me not telling them. This was a competitive game where either I would lose my money or he would. I'm pretty certain the rules don't state that you are obliged to tell your opponent that they have lost the hand. If they don't call it, then they don't win it. This guy put money into a table and was expected to know the rules. He didn't. I didn't take that money from him, he lost it. Therefore, I wouldn't even say I cheated - I just kept quiet. I doubt many would do differently. Just so that everybody knows, he would only have lost the £5 he put in, not his life's earnings!

And, for the record, if somebody did that to me, I would not be aggrieved in the slightest - it would have been my own fault. Not in the way of dropping a £10 note by complete accident, but in a way you know that you are likely to lose your money and that you should therefore know what you are getting into.

I never would take somebody's money if they dropped it, but even if I did, that wouldn't make me a bad person. I suppose it would depend on circumstances - if I were absolutely broke then you could understand - but even if I wasn't and I picked it up, it wouldn't make me a bad person. How can you judge a person on the basis of one act, unless of course that act was something truly horrific.

I wouldn't presume that I am a bad person either LeChuck and USA, because I am not, and you are in no position to judge whether I am. I might have kept quiet in a competitive game of poker and taken a few quid from somebody, but I am extremely generous with my money, my time, my efforts - everything.

What the bloody hell does your gambling habit have to do with one of the best players our league has ever seen leaving for Spain?

I wish he had stayed. Even for Utd. I just loved the way he played. It was unique, poetic even. The goal he got against us last season at Ewood i will always remember.

But, give me Shearer anytime!

Hey mate, what ever!!! Perhaps that IS why I don't play poker. I would have told the bloke myself, and I would feel good about it. I simply would not like myself had I done what you did. Maybe you are not a "bad" person per say but acts like that, to me, say you are not a good person.

Hey, back to the footy, I will most certainley miss watching Henry in the prem but I think the Arse are on the verge of something great.

I don't think he will replace Henry especially with the board not giving him any funds to get a Torres or Eto, IMHO they still haven't replaced the influence of Viera and their defence is still a little thin because they haven't sufficiently replaced Gallas or Cole.

I think for them to win the title next year they need at least 5 or 6 class players

I agree concerning Vieira, he certainly left a hole that Wenger hasn't been able to fill.

On the ground of watching Arsenal this past season one word comes to mind; naïve. They seemed to have it in their heads that goals should not be scored unless everyone on the pitch, including the keeper has been dribbled to the point of embarrassment. In that lack of anything similar to a direct style they were sometimes even tedious and annoying. One of the only times during the season they managed something direct they bashed us (in the last 15 minutes or so) at Emirates.

If they can muster to play like that for longer periods (meaning games, not just a few minutes here and there), improvements are surely going to come. Henry didn't make much of an impact last season, so they're not greatly weakened in that sense. Let us not think they're dead in the water just yet.

He does look very different with hair. The style reminds me of Simon Cowell. I'd rather have Shearer circa 1992-6 than Henry, solely because he was more effective than Henry for getting goals. If I had both in the same team, I'd be laughing like a nutcase as I left the Champions League trophy.

He hasn't quite replaced Viera, but Viera hasn't been the same player since he left either.

Actually, go to a poker room at a casino and the cards matter, not what is called. Whatever you do with the rest of your life, you still cheat at cards.

A lot of not so nice people are generous in other areas.
