G Somerset Rover Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 The LET describe Reid's injury as a 'scare' and that he was off for scans yesterday. Does anybody know the results of these yet? Hopefuly it won't be as bad as we all fear.
herbergeehh Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 It's always a scare when someone injures a knee, but until the scans are ready there's no way of knowing what kind of injury it is. Let's hope his cruciates are ok.
allan Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Cruciate tear is easliy detected by a "draw" test.
92er Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 I think it was on Radio Rovers that there was speculation that because MH did not want to talk about Reid's injury that the news was going to turn out to be bad.
G Somerset Rover Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 (edited) It has...just seen on the online LET edition that hes out for 6-9 months. David Dunn alone will not be enough now. We need a first 11 midfielder who can play consistently for the remainder of the season. Thoughts go out to Steven though-I hope he recovers his form of old. Edit- Sorry here's a link: http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport..._the_season.php Edited January 15, 2007 by Somerset Rover!
Quack Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 (edited) BAD NEWS - anterior cruciate rupture usually means surgical repair - premiership players usually go off to the states to see Richard Steadman for their surgery - it is the same injury as Michael Owen, 6-9 months is a very optimistic timescale for recovery. Surely this means dipping into the market this Jan - and not just for Dunny. Edited January 15, 2007 by Quack
pksrover Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 This is very bad news for Rovers, and I feel very sorry for Reidy.. best of luck to Reidy, we'll need you next season!
Ricky Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Ideally I guess we could do with an experienced midfielder who could be available to loan for a few months. . . . . . I'm sure there's a guy kicking his heels in Madrid who we could borrow until the Summer.
broadsword Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Speedy Reidy's my favourite player. I'm absolutely gutted for him. Recover well, Stevie. let's see you back fit and well next season. Have faith mate.
Esulx Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Just come through on the Rovers txt service... "Rovers can confirm that Steven Reid will be out for the remainder of the season after sustaining a cruciate knee injury in training on Friday." Get well soon Stevie.
daveoftherovers Posted January 15, 2007 Author Posted January 15, 2007 Poor sod, gutted is the word, poor lad, a huge miss for us! Get well soon Reidy, see you next season, keep the faith! Think we're in the sh8 if we don't get some midfielders in, thread bare would be an understatement!
Roar of the Rover Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 A massive blow, could be out for around 6 months, he was so close to returning and thats why it hurts more.
Blackpool_Rover Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Absolutely gutted. He played so well last season and helped us get into the Uefa Cup and cant even play a part in it. Get well soon Reidy and keep your head up!
AndyH16 Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ers/6263183.stm On the BBC site now. Real shame
T4E Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 No he hasn't, the last few pages were all just people having a bit of a joke and talking nonsense. We do that sometimes. Speak for yourself Edmundo.
Guest Kamy100 Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 I knew we should of cashed in, oh well When he comes back and perfroms like he did last year I am going to shove that idiotic comment down your throat.
bob Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Wish him all the best, it took him a while to get going at Rovers (After his first set of injuries) still only think of him as a squad player don't see who he would push out of the first 11. But as I say wish him all the best!
T4E Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 I knew we should of cashed in, oh well Should of is probably the most idiotically infuriating error made by people on this site. As soon as I read that I tend to immediately disregard the remainder of the post. Usually its indicative of the quality of the statement being made - it certainly is in this case.
AggyBlue Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 I feel for the lad. Just when there was light at the end of the tunnel. At least, for Rovers sake, it happened during the transfer window.
West Sussex Rover Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 I feel for the lad. Just when there was light at the end of the tunnel. At least, for Rovers sake, it happened during the transfer window. Not that were going to act on that fact by the looks of it... The best we can hope for is Dunn and even thats rather disappointing...
Radagast Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Ah damn damn damn crap. Poor Reidy. This really dents our chances of finishing strong this season.
