philipl Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 I am not surprised that Graham Poll presided over a complete horlicks. Is anybody? The lack of quality referees in the Premiership is rapidly becoming a crisis for our game. I struggleto think of a Prem ref I could nominate as being better than Poll who has clearly shown himself to be one of the worst refs at the WC.

The worst referee at the tournament so far and up there with the worst of all time. The problem with Poll is he likes to think he's as much a star of the game as the players are. A scathing assessment by the Guardian here: http://football.guardian.co.uk/worldcup200...1804177,00.html I guess he'll be back home by the weekend. I hope JimMuck 11 has his pen ready to write Poll's welcome home note.
Flopsy Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Clattenburg is not bad at all, a ref who seems to be there to referee not to get himself on telly
Backroom trueblue Posted June 23, 2006 Backroom Posted June 23, 2006 People have been saying that English referees are the worst in the world.... Graham's gone and proved it now !! in front of millions !!!!! wot an arsewipe!
OJRovers Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Why did Emo get a second yellow? Did anyone see? Was it for the handball or for his blue language towards the idiot Poll?
Presty On Tour Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Why did Emo get a second yellow? Did anyone see? Was it for the handball or for his blue language towards the idiot Poll? 2nd yellow card for handball, the croatia player pinged it at him from a fairly short distance, he probably could have made more of an effort to move his hand out the way but still it was well unlucky to recieve a yellow card for it. poll has something against rovers, remember the theatre of nightmares 2nd leg of the carling cup? celebrity referee!!!
ChicagoRover Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 The ref in today's Ukraine v Tunisia is just as bad too.
sleepyjack Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 poll has something against rovers Aye he was shocking in the Worthington Cup Final. Giving that penalty to Spurs in the last minute, I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

The two of em are a bloody embarrassment to this country.
colin Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Poll certainly made a big balls-up, I for one found it deeply entertaining. However, that player that he booked twice. Why didn't he walk? Just as an experiment I think the third place play-off should be held without a ref or linesmen. That should put a value on the officials. I'd give it about two minutes, before anarchy and chaos arrrived.

philipl Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 Modi and Blue Phil have short memories obviously. At least D'Urso didn't give Ferguson three yellows!
Flopsy Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 still makes my blood boil that game - IT WAS NEVER A FOUL ON BEATIE
Backroom trueblue Posted June 26, 2006 Backroom Posted June 26, 2006 Not blatanly as crap as Poll was, but the referee in last nights Holland v Portugal game was a nightmare!! Did he actually break the record for the most number of cards dished out in a World Cup game? if not, he came bloody close to it.
Hanks Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 only equalled the record apparantly, i think the other match was germany/cameroon

Equalled record with the 16 yellows, but broke a new record with the 4 reds.
speeeeeeedie Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Grab your luggage lads As expected Poll has been given his marching orders, as well as the mad Russian. But Markus Merk stays; probably to wind the Yanks up.
philipl Posted June 28, 2006 Author Posted June 28, 2006 Yes, he's poll-axed: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/w...006/5108722.stm WC Final?- you're kidding aren't you?
neekoy Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 (edited) Reminds me of the current crop of drama queens Are you Graham Poll in disguise? Edited June 29, 2006 by neekoy
DanLad Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Poll deserves a rousing rendition of 'You let England down' when he next visits Ewood.
