Presty On Tour Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Nice if predictable review from ESPN then in the last sentence: If Hughes wins their first silverware since 1995, they'll make him a Saint. (hmm, why go to Southampton?) I beleive that the Worthington cup is made of Stainless Steel... Nah! it's aluminium! i thought it was made of plastic and come form disney world as everybody seems to be calling that competition the mickey mouse cup

FourLaneBlue Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 (edited) The Sun preview was worse thyan pathetic. Driven by readership numbers. Why? Because they disagreed with you? Nothing worse than all the other predictions being bandied about. Edited August 16, 2006 by FourLaneBlue
philipl Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 The Sun says- 1. Chelsea (same as last year) 2. Manchester United (same as last year) 3. Liverpool (same as last year) 4. Arsenal (same as last year) 5. Spurs (same as last year) 6. Newcastle (lets boot little Rovers out) 7. West Ham Combined with the most cloyingly supportive comments about those clubs. Still think it has nothing to do with readership numbers?
blue phil Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Well I reckon they've got the first 4 correct - although I reckon UTD will push Chelsea all the way . I'd still put Rovers in Newcastle's place though . 7th doesn't count ..... In fact the top end of the table could be the same as last year

Still think it has nothing to do with readership numbers? Nope...sounds like a perfectly reasonable prediction. In fact is almost the same as my prediction...was I also going for 'readership numbers'? Paranoia perhaps? Edited August 17, 2006 by FourLaneBlue

Top 5 (Cut & paste) Bottom Clubs (Anyone who came up + usual suspects) Middle, media favourites 1st and then the rest. What a load of ###### that rag is. these sort of predictions seem to be the norm with most papers and mags. we are mostly being tipped for a midtable finish from what i have read. maybe hughes could use these articles as a motivator to prove the ###### wrong "again"
S15 Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 The Sun predict us to finish 9th????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD THE SCUMBAGS!!!!!!! Don't be so stupid and realise that 9th is perfectly realistic, and I can see many reasons why a neutral would put us down to finish about 9th.... Reasons such as selling our best player and having to concentrate on Europe too.

Sheffield United Gonna be incredibly tight at both the top and the bottom this season. I can see there being as little as 5 points between the top 3. At the bottom, I think Sheffield United will be rock bottom, but the gap between the rest in the relegation scrap will also be extremely tight. I can see Manchester City, Reading, Wigan, Fulham and Watford scrapping around there all season.
