speeeeeeedie Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 I don't know if this one counts but Paul Dalglish has just signed for the Houston Dynamos of the MLS. He played for our reserves a few times when his dad was in charge.
dave birch Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Wilf Billington, (GK 1950ish) last seen in a club in Wollongong NSW Had bloody enormous hands and a similar sized sense of humour. Great bloke to talk to.
Philly Rover ® Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Former Academy player John Fitzgerald had quite an eventful day for Bury in the Carling Cup: "Sunderland held on until eight minutes from time, Bury defender Fitzgerald rising to meet Brian Barry-Murphy's corner at the near post and smashing a header past Ben Alnwick. Fitzgerald, who had already been booked, jumped straight into the crowd and was sent off for his second yellow card." Match Report: Bury 2 - 0 Sunderland Not quite the sharpest tool in the shed it seems?
Ste B Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Nathan Blake signed for Newport today after having a year out.
SamTheShrew Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 --> QUOTE(ste b @ Aug 23 2006, 17:43 ) 438079[/snapback] Nathan Blake signed for Newport today after having a year out. haha, a forced year though wasn't it? didn't i hear that he got caught smoking 'de erb'
FourLaneBlue Posted August 24, 2006 Author Posted August 24, 2006 (edited) Sam - Are you sure that was Nathan Blake? I've never heard that before. Philly - Wasn't Paul Dalglish at Liverpool before moving to Newcastle. Don't think he ever signed with us. Cheers to rover_groo for his invaluable knowledge - even if I must admit I haven't heard of most of them! Edited September 15, 2006 by FourLaneBlue
92er Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I was recently very kindly given the Harry Berry book featuring all the players for the first team since 1945. It's quite interesting to see where players have gone, and it mentions that some have died.
bazza Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Also at Everton are Alan Irvine and Mick (Basil) Rathbone.
Mark Atkins' Bald Patch Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Just a followup on a few Norn Irish Players: DERRY CITY: Eddie McCallion GLENTORAN: Peter McCann LOUGHGALL: Jon Topley Jonny Topley is a good mate of mine ... I'm marrying his cousin in April ... he remembers his time at Rovers fondly. Good player ... just lacks that extra bit of motivation you need to make it at a higher level. Plus he's very fond of a full days beveraging on occasion.
FourLaneBlue Posted August 25, 2006 Author Posted August 25, 2006 Derek Fazackerley is a coach at Man City...I'd forgot about him.
Jan Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I think he was one of ours- Ryan Baldacchino came on as a sub for Gretna v derry City
FourLaneBlue Posted August 25, 2006 Author Posted August 25, 2006 Yeah think he was...certainly seem to remember the name.
92er Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I think he was a full back who came through the youth system and didn't make it.
tchocky Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 And he went from us to Bolton the season before Walters if I remember correctly. Dunno how long he lasted there.
FourLaneBlue Posted August 30, 2006 Author Posted August 30, 2006 (edited) Gresko joins Nuremberg Hmm...maybe my 'wishful thinking' as in hoping for a move for Emerton to Middlesbrough was a bit early! Only take three years to find his form...for two whole games anyway! Edited August 30, 2006 by FourLaneBlue
FourLaneBlue Posted September 1, 2006 Author Posted September 1, 2006 Transfer deadline day deals... Ben Burgess has moved from Hull to Blackpool for £250,000. Dwight Yorke is back in England at Sunderland. Jonathon Douglas has left for Leeds. and Kuqi has gone in a reported £2.5million move to Crystal Palace.
Tris Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Barnet - Paul Warhurst Anyone see him and his Barnet team mates taking the Crossbar Challenge on Soccer am this morning? As he walked up to the camera he was doing a funny walk, and he annouced himself as "Paul Warhurst - Defender, Midfielder and attacker!" Wasn't far off with his attepmpt either ...

92er Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 James(?) Thomas is now at Lanelli, having left Swansea. He has also missed the last 2 seasons due to injury. He was a striker, taken on the year after Beattie.
