AndyH16 Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Could be interesting. Although the world class manager title is a bit much.
Philly Rover ® Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 You think he'll train with the players and try to hurt them, like Souness was accused of?
Bobby G Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Thats a joke. Using world class to describe someone who hasnt had a day in management yet. I also know that Keane hasnt even gotten his UEFA A license yet. He took the first part of the course last month, so this was something abrupt.
RoyRover Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I'm surprised that Keane is willing to work for Quinn after the bust up in the World Cup four years ago. I thought that Quinn was one of the players who was against Keane. It will be interesting to see how he does. He will bring passion to the job at least.

Good shout, like you say if I remember rightly from his autobiography Quinn was the one who stood up and backed Mccarthy right in front of him?!...Maybe Roy has gone soft in his old age? jim mk2 Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 “I don’t suppose I’ll have a relationship with Roy again” — Quinn wrote in his book after one Ireland fallout. “There is the possibility that Roy Keane wouldn’t play if I was involved” — Quinn on talk that he could join Peter Reid in an Ireland management team. “They can rot in hell” — Keane on Quinn and Steve Staunton. Funny game football.
Dufflite Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 ...and Mr Kidd is going to be his number 2...it just gets funnier
yoda Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 To be announced tomorrow. "World-class" manager according to Niall Quinn. Actually he said "The club is in discussions with a high-profile figure and is hopeful of an announcement in the near future."
adopted scouser Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 And with big, bad Roy watching they've beaten the Baggies two nil.

cletus Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I wonder how long before the first reports of Keane punching one of his team? Personally i don`t think Keane is wired up properly & management won`t suit him. I may be wrong though.

Personally i don`t think Keane is wired up properly & management won`t suit him. I may be wrong though. I'm with you there cletus. I think this will all end in tears.
Bobby G Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I think he would be a good manager, but maybe he needed to take one step back from football before taking two steps forward. Time will tell...
Paul Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Personally i don`t think Keane is wired up properly & management won`t suit him. I may be wrong though. Beautifully put. The Makems must be delighted with the appointment of their new thug, whoops manager.
Drakefyre Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I think he knows the game, but I'm not sure how effective he will be in communicating with the team. I think they'll do well.
West Sussex Rover Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 (edited) He's been team captain for Manu in the past for god knows how many years and has won the title a few times, so obviously knows the tactics of it all. So i say, give him a chance, watched em win 2 nil today didnt he. Edited August 28, 2006 by Rover The Moon
AggyBlue Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 It's surprising how persuasive a £2m a year salary can be... I wouldn't be bought for that
American Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I see him being like Souness. Good at the start, but wearing thin after a couple seasons.
RevidgeBlue Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Some people just have a certain presence or aura about them. Dalglish was in that category, possibly Keane is too. Although I doubt the throwing teacups style of management works these days.

Although I doubt the throwing teacups style of management works these days. However, unlike most managers, Keane is actually being paid MORE than most of his squad, which gives him a certain "show me the money" power over them.
