thenodrog Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 (edited) Something needs to be done before the long ball to the far post becomes a tactic for all our opponents. What about trading Neill for Crouch in Jan...... and play him at centre half? Edited December 27, 2006 by thenodrog

Exiled_Rover Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 For a tall guy his heading is woeful, he doesn't seem to relish the bodily contact that comes with making contested headers. Something needs to be done before the long ball to the far post becomes a tactic for all our opponents. My dad made the comment a few years back - Emerton isn't actually Australian. Sure, by birth he is, but the way he conducts himself on a football pitch is at odds with how Aussies play sport - just look at Neill. That said, he's done well at right back this year. Though I agree he's a liability in the air, and he loses his man too often for my liking.
Presty On Tour Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 bellamy at anfield and gilberto sping to mind where emerton has been done in the air and we have conceded, both from corners too. maybe we should put him up front on corners, his pace could be an outlet on the break.

Gripping the back post'll do imo. Emerton isn't actually Australian. Sure, by birth he is,
T4E Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 So - is Bert an early front-runner for Player of the Year. Jeez, I never thought I'd be typing those words
Eddie Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 I'd say the current competition is between Friedel, Savage, Bentley, Benni, Emerton and Tugay.
Flopsy Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 tugster for me, just for his substitution walks
