Ozz Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 (edited) Rovers have never won a game in the EUFA cup. We certainly have come close; including the memorable 3-3 in Sofia, after Tommo, Ostenstad and Duffer put us 3 up a couple of years ago. And at Celtic park, in the very net round we totally battered the hoops for 85 minutes, playing the best football of the Souness regime, only to suffer a late Larsson winner. These were only the latest installments of a fairly pathetic run of games in this competition, which started in our title season with a game against Swedish minnows Trelleborgs. A 0-1 home defeat in the first leg, despite once again dominating the game, Rovers were apparently home and hosed in the second leg at 2-1 up until they scored another late equalizer to go through 3-2 on aggregate. Then more heroics in Lyon followed, but again they were ultimately in vain as 2-2 was just enough for the French to progress. Some links here for the matches lost! Trelleborg Lyon CSKA Sofia Home CSKA Sofia Away Celtic Away Amusing jock Banter Genc...Away. Personally, I feel if we go through this tie and into the group stages, with our two match back-to back Premiership wins the season really starts to take some kind of shape and Blackburn look well placed to make it a season to remember. tony gale's mic Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 1-1 our run continues but we'll advance.
philipl Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Determining point of the season. Win and we lay the UEFA bogey plus have four more European nights to look forwards to no doubt popping out of bag 4 in the UEFA draw with 3 higher ranked clubs already waiting for us but what the hell- boro and Bolton topped their groups last year so we should be ok. Lose or draw 3-3 and all last year's good work in coming 6th are down the loo. What is there left to kick-on with? Rovers to win 3-1 in front of 19,000.
ABBEY Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 not predicting ..but 19k ??hahahaha lucky if there will be 11 on
cn_barlow Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 who are the other teams that could be in our gorup should we get through? Do we know? or is there another draw to determine that? Anyway i'm going for 2-0 Nonda and Benni Mac to do the business!
AggyBlue Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 not predicting ..but 19k ??hahahaha lucky if there will be 11 on Don't forget, season ticket holders are on for free Plus I've talked two long term absentees to go along.
KingCrip Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Does anyone know the dates for the group stage matches? Might aswell be an optomist and book them off work now
Fife Rover Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Its on British Eurosport Are you sure about that? There is nothing at all about it in the Sky planner or the TV Choice magazine either.
ihateburnley Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 I'll say 3-0 Rovers. We'll get an early goal through Emerton, and then we'll batter them. Miss loads of chances but another Savage freekick and a Nonda header will see them off. Attendance: around the 14k mark.
Mike Graham Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 2-v-1 to the Blue Boys with a gate of 11,500

SAS Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 we wont win so we have to hope for 0-0 or 1-1 we come into this game on the back ofa good performance against boro with a clean sheet salzburg come into this on the back of a defeat against a team that is probably equal to oldham we should win, but we are cursed in europe, the odds will be nice on salzburg progressing, worth a fiver
krislu Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Hmm. I live in Norway, and get Eurosport and Eurosport 2. Does anyone know if any of these channels will show the game?
