rog of the rovers Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Has anyone got the tape of Mike Newell's hat-trick against Rosenborg? Its still the fastest hat-trick in Champions League history, yet I can't really remember any of the goals, despite going to the game!! Any descriptions of the goals would also be much apprechiated. Still this win remains our only victory in European competition, hopefully this will change tonight though.

Ozz Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I remember it well! Sat in the Lower Darwen End, the end which they went in. I say remember it well, I can't actually remember the precise details. I think there was a left footer, a right footer and a header. Could be an omen that Newell is doing the TV on Eurosport UK tonight. Channel 666.
HugeChin Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I remember watching it on TV and they missed one of Newell's goals because they were still showing the replay of the Rosenborg goal.
Neil Weaver Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 His first two are lost in the mists of time but the third....... Matty Holmes (yep that's right) got to the dead ball line, must have been somewhere about edge of 18 yd box, chipped it across and Newell got a glancing header to it from about 3 yds. Well that's how I remember it anyway.
brfcshabba Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 (edited) I think his first was a long range shot May Bring Back Some Memories Edited October 1, 2006 by Cookiemonster

Dan Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Here you go Nice find! Enjoyed watching that, seems like yesterday. Is that still the fastest hattrick in the CL?
Commondore Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Here you go The Norwegian commentator actually sighs and says "Alan Shearer will NEVER miss this" when Rovers get the penalty right in the beginning. Classic!
